On Wednesday's CNN Newsroom, host Brooke Baldwin devoted a segment to interviewing a woman who was celebrated by liberals for holding up her middle finger when President Donald Trump's motorcade drove past her a year ago. The woman whose photograph was shown on national television at the time, Juli Briskman, is now capitalizing on her popularity with liberals to run for a local office in Virginia.
In one of two plugs, Baldwin teased: "Coming up next, she made headlines after this photo capturing her giving the President's motorcade the bird. That woman is now running for office. We'll talk to her live next."
At 2:43 p.m. Eastern, the CNN host then introduced the segment: "My next guest is turning a small act of defiance into a bid for public office."
After recalling that the President's motorcade drove past Briskman while she was riding a bicycle on the street, Baldwin continued: "That is when she decided to send him a message with her middle finger." CNN then showed clips of several liberal TV hosts cheering her on by showing a photograph of the woman with her blurred middle finger pointed in the air.
Baldwin began the interview by posing: "I want you to tell me -- what was your final straw in your, you know, in your world, that made you say, 'That's it -- I'm running.'"
After clearly being amused by her guest's past behavior, the CNN host later in the interview mildly chided her for making such a provocative gesture toward the President.
