Displaying the liberal cable channel’s eager anticipation for Saturday’s gun control protest in Washington D.C., the March for Our Lives, on Monday, MSNBC aired a gushing ad celebrating the movement to restrict gun rights.
In promo that could just as easily have been created by the Democratic National Committee, a headline appeared on screen declaring: “There’s a movement afoot.” A soundbite followed of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student and gun control activist David Hogg proclaiming: “I don’t want something like this ever to happen again. I want us to take action.”
More headlines scrolled across and touted how the movement was “getting louder” and “growing in number.” More clips ran of student protesters. One teenage girl told a crowd: “Today we are doing more than just taking a first step.” Another demanded: “I want change and I need it now.”
“Led by a generation demanding change,” the on-screen graphic continued. A young boy at a protest was shown telling an MSNBC reporter: “I am marching for gun control.”
An announcer came on and assured viewers: “MSNBC will be on the ground in Washington for the March for Our Lives. Live coverage begins Friday and continues all day Saturday on MSNBC.”
MSNBC, like the rest of the media, is working hard to get out the left-wing base for the march.
