Do facts matter for The Washington Post? The paper on Wednesday deemed 2020 Democrats Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke to be “centrist,” despite the fact that both are very liberal. In a story by Post national political reporter Matt Viser, the headline declared, “Biden, O’Rourke entries would bring centrist twist.”    

If Hollywood’s #MeToo maxim “believe all victims” is to be held as some universal moral standard, then Johnny Depp’s side of the story must be given some serious credence as well. The actor has endured two years of media attacks over allegations of domestic abuse from ex-wife Amber Heard, however new evidence has surfaced that might indicate that Depp has been the abuse victim all along.

Sometimes, a long lag time between posting and publication/distribution undermines a newspaper's credibility. For example, on February 22, Washington Post gossip Helena Andrews-Dyer penned a piece on how presidential candidates campaign on "pop culture" issues in social media and on hipster venues, including on the Jussie Smollett hate-crimes hoax. As the Democrats careen to the left (and over a cliff), it should not be surprising that their allied “fact checkers” are running alongside them, trying to “correct” any negative impressions. “Be wary of politicians crying socialism,” warned Washington Post “fact checker” Glenn Kessler recently.

Something weird happened on March 6. Both PolitiFact and The Washington Post flagged Hillary Clinton for a lie -- she was both rated "Pants on Fire" and "Four PInocchios" -- for claiming Wisconsin voters were "turned away" by the thousands in 2016 because of race. Then something less weird happened -- most of the media ignored the lie. 

The worst problem that liberal journalists have is that mental tic that journalism equals liberalism. Conservative journalism is by definition “disinformation.” Washington Post media columnist Margaret Sullivan perfectly exemplified this tic on Friday calling Fox News a disease – an “American plague.”

Finally, Taylor Swift has promised to grace us with more of her political opinion. After years of media haranguing and being quiet when asked her opinions on the bad Orange Man (Vice claimed her silence may be partially to blame for Trump’s election) the pop princess claimed that from here on out she “will be more active in political campaigns.”

Progressive agendas used to be confined to the news and opinion pages of print and electronic media. Now they're spilling over onto the sports pages. Case in point: today's Washington Post sports section includes a lengthy feature story as part of a "Game Changer" series pushing the climate change agenda.

No headline has ever been better matched to the newspaper section in which ran: “The latest Lent challenge for churches: Give up plastic” adorns the Ash Wednesday “Acts of Faith” section in The Washington Post. “Acts of Faith”  is heavy on the acting. So is pretending that your environmental virtue-signaling has anything to do with faith.

As promised on Monday afternoon, Covington student Nicholas Sandmann attorneys Lin Wood and Todd McMurty ran The Washington Post through the wood chipper in a new statement refusing to accept The Post’s cowardly-timed Friday night Editor’s Note attempting to cover itself for the damage done to Sandmann as part of the January 18 incident on the National Mall.

Ahhhh memories. Here at CPAC this week, the stories abound about President Donald Trump walking away from the Hanoi Summit. Here are a few of the headlines. NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Addressing a full capacity Potomac Ballroom inside the Gaylord National Harbor, President Donald Trump continued his annual tradition started in 2011 of addressing CPAC and, as expected, it was a quintessential Trump speech with riffs attacking everyone from Hillary Clinton to the liberal media to Robert Mueller, Jeff Sessions, and critics writ large for peddling “b***s***.”

It’s safe to say that this might have been too little, too late, folks. On Friday night, the “Democracy Dies in Darkness” newspaper The Washington Post published an “editor’s note” attempting to save face following their embarrassing behavior for the last month and a half smearing the Covington students and being hit on February 19 with a lawsuit by student Nicholas Sandmann.

From the Feb. 28 Washington Post comes a useful reminder that in Progressive Land the sky is always falling; the cause just depends on which Chicken Little is doing the screaming. Or when.
