As expected, on Friday night the PBS NewsHour greeted the failure to repeal Obamacare as a happy "flame-out" by the Republican Party, and pseudo-conservative PBS pundit David Brooks insisted it's time for Republicans to "wrap their minds around the fact" that Americans want to preserve health care as a "right." 

The Hollywood Reporter unveils that PBS and its public-broadcasting brethren have written the Federal Communications Commission with a list of complaints. The headline: “PBS Wants the Government to Reexamine Hard Stance on Indecency.” That’s a funny headline, since we haven’t seen a “hard stance on indecency” since the Hays Commission a half century ago. And that wasn’t even the government.

Media outlets ranging from CBS to CNN and MSNBC had egg on their faces Tuesday night after their bombshell revelations about a supposedly new, “previously undisclosed” meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin fell flat upon reading a July 8 BuzzFeed news item.

Howard Husock of the Manhattan Institute, a former member of the board at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, penned an article for The Wall Street Journal provocatively titled “Racial Division, Made Possible by Viewers Like You: The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is pushing identity politics—except at pledge time.”

Monday's PBS NewsHour spotlighted the low trust in the news media, according to the results of their latest poll. Only 30 percent of those surveyed by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist trust the press "a good deal" or "a great amount." The Trump administration scored seven points better in the same poll. Joe Battenfeld at the Boston Herald reports that PBS superstation WGBH is acting like it's very high on the hog, paying lavish salaries and bonuses to executives (at least for taxpayer-subsidized TV) as the Trump administration has proposed zeroing out federal funding.  The station's CEO Jonathan Abbott was given an $85,000 bonus in 2016, bringing his annual compensation package up to $624,930.

Just days after the Supreme Court passed through a watered-down version of President Trump’s temporary “travel ban,” CNN put out a Facebook Live video with Elmo from Sesame Street talking about the plight of Syrian refugees.
