Yet another testy exchange transpired on the PBS NewsHour between reporters and Republicans. Host Amna Nawaz and new Republican presidential candidate, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, got into it on Friday evening. Nawaz was greatly troubled that Suarez offered a hypothetical response to a Trump conviction, if Suarez somehow became President of the United States.

The whole point of elections is to offer multiple competing visions for the future, but this was confusing to the cast of Friday’s PBS NewsHour with host Amna Nawaz how 2024 Republicans can “undermine” federal agencies, such as the Justice Department, while seeking to run them. Washington Post associate editor also proclaimed that such campaigning represents “projection.”

Tuesday’s edition of the tax-funded PBS NewsHour aired a segment on Trump’s latest indictment, over classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago estate, that was devoted to neutralizing Republican accusations of a double standard between the political parties over document-related prosecutions, using an unlabeled Democratic lawyer and operative as cover.

PBS NewsHour White House correspondent Laura Barron-Lopez continued her recent streak of transgender activism on Monday night by interviewing Prof. Michelle Forcier who compared giving hormones to 8-year olds to treatment for an earache.

New York Times columnist and the supposedly conservative half of PBS NewsHour’s weekly Friday Brooks and Capehart panel was dismayed that even “supposedly mature and moderate” Republicans were decrying President Trump’s latest indictment as “selective prosecution.” Washington Post columnist and pinch hitter Ruth Marcus went even further, labelling it “sickening.”

"Public" broadcasting is for liberals. PBS and the Voice of America offered softball questions to Biden on his Pride Month activities at the White House. NPR set up House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries to denounce "extreme MAGA Republicans," and attacked the "far right" on election integrity.

PBS NewsHour White House Correspondent Laura Barron-Lopez took a field trip down to Taylor, Texas, for Monday’s show to report on “the frontline of the war on LGBTQ rights” and how allegedly certain people are “challenging their very existence.” At the same time Barron-Lopez condemned a group of pastors for not wanting drag queens at their Christmas parade.

PBS reporter Lisa Desjardins gave Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis a chilly welcome to the 2024 presidential race on Wednesday, before his Twitter-hosted interview with Twitter owner Elon Musk. Desjardins included positive details about the new candidate, standard practice when introducing new candidates into the presidential race (at least Democratic ones).
