AP Headline Whitewashes KU Prof's Placement on Leave Over Wishing Sons

September 20th, 2013 3:53 PM
The Associated Press, in story carried at Channel 6 in Lawrence, reported (HT Twitchy) that a Kansas University professor has been "placed on administrative leave" after he issued the following tweet concerning Monday's Navy Yard murders: "The blood is on the hands of the #NRA. Next time, let it be YOUR sons and daughters. Shame on you. May God damn you." A NewsBusters post by Ken Shepherd…

Networks Ignore FRC Shooter Floyd Corkins' Sentencing: 25 Years for At

September 20th, 2013 11:50 AM
Yesterday morning, Floyd Lee Corkins II was sentenced by a federal judge in the District of Columbia to 25 years in prison for his act of terrorism and attempted murder last August at the Family Research Council. Corkins targeted the socially conservative think tank because of what he considered their "anti-gay" views. In an interrogation with the FBI, he admitted that he drew inspiration from…

Establishment Press Virtually Ignores Occupy Movement's Second Anniver

September 17th, 2013 7:03 PM
A 6 p.m. Google News search on "Occupy Movement" (not in quotes, sorted by date) returned 69 items dated September 16 and 17. The same search adding the word "capitalism" returned only two items. This is odd, because, as one of the two items returned noted, "capitalism" — as in ending it — is the core platform of the few who remain involved with the two year-old movement.

Jay Leno: 'I'm on That New Obama Diet. Every Day I Let Vladimir Putin

September 14th, 2013 9:05 AM
In yet another monologue comment destined to give NBC's Barack Obama-loving news division a case of heartburn, Tonight Show host Jay Leno, whose 22-year run (with some interruptions) as that show's host is on tap to end after the 2014 Winter Olympics, took a shot at the administation's diplomatic and leadership weaknesses recently on display. The video of Leno's monologue from NBC's web site…

NBC Nightly News Has Worst Two Ratings Weeks in Over Six Years

August 27th, 2013 4:02 PM
Based on a review of the archive at Media Bistro's Evening News Category, NBC's Nightly News has just turned in its lowest consecutive two weeks of ratings in over six years. You'd never know that from reading Chris Ariens's narrative at today's ratings post there. The Big 3 networks combined also failed to break 20 million during both the week of August 12 (19,859,000) and August 19 (19,994,…

Egypt: Churches Burned, Christians Attacked, Networks Barely Mention

August 21st, 2013 3:24 PM
In the media’s wall-to-wall Egypt coverage, one important facet of the ongoing crisis has gotten short shrift: the deadly plight of that nation’s Christians. The three broadcast networks in particular have buried the anti-Christian violence, devoting just 5 percent of Egypt reporting to it since last week. Six days ago, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and deposed President Mohammed Morsi…

Bozell Column: ABC's Good Morning Sex

August 17th, 2013 2:32 PM
Network morning “news” shows are aimed directly at women aged 25 to 54. ABC’s “Good Morning America” is routinely winning the ratings race by skipping the boring “hard news” and focusing heavily on real-life soap operas like the Jodi Arias murder trial or the Ariel Castro kidnapping outrage. It isn’t news at all. It’s infotainment. But what really caused jaws to drop recently was ABC…

MSNBC Geography Fail: Cities on Obama Bus Tour Shown in Wrong Location

August 14th, 2013 1:11 PM
Maybe part — but certainly not all — of the reason President Obama basically got away with claiming that Jacksonville, Flordia, Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia are ports "along the Gulf" is that the press is so geographically ignorant that it did not recognize the obvious mistake until someone outside of their bubble pointed it out. I say that because the geniuses at MSNBC…

Out of the Habit: Nets Favor Liberal Nuns

August 13th, 2013 3:25 PM
The Leadership Conference of Women Religious begins its annual assembly today in Orlando. The group of Catholic nuns from various orders is certain to be considering a response to the Vatican’s finding that LCWR’s liberal activism strays from Church doctrine on a variety of issues. But the sisters probably aren’t too worried. They have something the Vactican doesn’t – a friendly news media.

NB's Graham: RNC Is 'Exactly Right' to Boycott CNN, NBC Should They Ai

August 7th, 2013 4:27 PM
"NBC News hired Chelsea Clinton when she had zero journalistic talent, so the idea that NBC News or NBC entertainment isn't going to be friendly to Hillary is just a silly, silly thing," NewsBusters senior editor Tim Graham told The Blaze's Andrew Wilkow in an August 6 interview on Wilkow!. Graham called out  NBC White House correspondent Chuck Todd as one prominent journalist dismissive of…

Mika: With Biopic, NBC Trying To 'Climb Up' Team Hillary's 'Something

August 6th, 2013 8:07 AM
Wow: Joe Scarborough just outed something naughty that Mika Brzezinski had to say about the Hillary biopic that her parent network NBC is planning. After Mika admitted on today's Morning Joe that she doesn't disagree with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus's warning that the RNC might not cooperate with NBC or CNN on Republican debates should the networks proceed with their biopic plans, Joe took…

Networks Silent about Manning’s ‘Gay Soldier’ Defense

July 31st, 2013 4:26 PM
Bradley Manning must be terribly lonely. After all, how many gay men have made news the last few years without being celebrated in the media for their gayness? And a gay man who also “struggles with issues of gender identity” can pretty much write his own contract with MSNBC. But the media, and the broadcast networks especially, are oddly reticent about the sexual orientation and confusion of…

‘Fetus’ Means Death, Abortion in Media Talk

July 29th, 2013 9:54 AM
A couple definitions from the media’s unofficial abortion lexicon: Baby (n) any infant, pre- or postnatal, whose existence is welcome and not seen as “punishment” for the mother. Often used to gush over celebrity offspring. Example: “The world is impatiently waiting for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, to give birth the baby that will be heir to the British throne. Fetus (n) any…

Whining Spitzer, Who Beat the Rap Because of Who He Is: Zimmerman Verd

July 15th, 2013 12:59 PM
On ABC's This Week yesterday, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer -- who resigned in 2008 when caught dead to rights illegally purchasing the services of prostitutes but was never prosecuted because, as announced two days after Election Day in 2008, the Department of Justice decided that "the public interest would not be further advanced by filing criminal charges" -- called the verdict in…
