Trump-Russia probe

MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews put forth a theory on Thursday night that the reason droves of everyday Americans aren’t as obsessed with the Trump-Russia investigation (aka removing Trump from office) as the New York City and Washington D.C. liberal media are due to the decline of local newspapers featuring national news stories about Russian collusion.

On the Russia-Trump imbroglio, let us be clear. We are now months into it. A dozen or so culprits have been fingered, some being actually quite amusing. You will be seeing more of the fat British music promoter Rob Goldstone, who has been photographed wearing a baseball hat emblazoned with the letters "C*NTY." He is too good to be ignored.

According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, the reason journalists cover Russia non-stop is because they “love America.” The liberal Reliable Sources anchor battled with Kellyanne Conway about the cable network’s priorities on Sunday. Conway blasted ObamaCare, saying, “You can't sit here, Brian, and deny the fact that 19 of the 23 co-ops under ObamaCare have failed. They're gone.” 

They just hate the guy. Unless and until they love the guy. The guy we speak of here is whomever happens to be investigating the President of the United States. Call him a Special Prosecutor, an Independent Counsel, a Special Counsel. Whatever. And the “they” in question is, but of course, our friends in the mainstream media.

Appearing on MSNBC’s 11 a.m. ET hour on Friday, Republican North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer called out the “unhealthy obsession” the media have with accusations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, sending co-hosts Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle into full freak-out mode. The broadcast networks' obsession with all things Russia continues: Over the last ten days (July 9 to July 18, including weekends), the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts have devoted nearly two hours (114 minutes) to the ongoing probe of potential 2016 collusion -- far more airtime than they devoted to any other political topic.

As the White House becomes further entrenched in the throes of media claims of Russian collusion, it seemed only natural that the news media would have a fit of spasmodic rage when President Trump had an undisclosed meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit of world leaders.

“Too cozy,” “controversy,” “striking,” “crisis,” “startling,” those were just some of the hyperbolic terms thrown around on Wednesday’s network morning shows as hosts and correspondents panicked over news that President Trump had a casual after-dinner conversation with Vladimir Putin surrounded by dozens of other world leaders at the G20 Summit earlier this month.

As CNN continues their crusade to bring down the Trump presidency, New Day spent 93 percent of their three-hour program Wednesday covering Donald Trump Jr. and the Trump campaign's supposed collusion with Russia. The other seven percent was spent on baseball (~1.5%) and negative coverage of the GOP's healthcare bill (~5.5%).​​​​
