Reporting live from Seoul, South Korea during Friday’s Today show, NBC Chief Global Correspondent Bill Neely warned against anyone being too optimistic about the major diplomatic breakthrough in the Korean peace process, telling co-host Savannah Guthrie that she was “right to be skeptical” of the development. He later took to MSNBC to repeat the same message.

On ABC’s The View on Friday, the co-hosts discussed the prospects of peace between North Korea and South Korea, but Sunny Hostin refused to accept that President Trump deserved one ounce of credit. "This has nothing to do with Trump...I think the kudos goes to China, not Trump." Several others disagreed.

All three networks on Friday trumpeted the “historic” breakthrough in North Korea, touting “peace at last!” In total, ABC, CBS and NBC devoted 26 minutes and 10 seconds of coverage to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visiting South Korea. Yet, of that time, a scant 76 seconds (all on CBS) was allowed for pondering what credit Donald Trump deserves.

Journalists on the NBC, ABC, and CBS broadcasts feared that the “controversial” pick would only add to Trump’s “very hardline” national security team.

Of all the absurd takes on the U.S.–North Korean situation in the wake of President Trump's tentative, conditional agreement to meet with Kim Jong Un, Barbara Demick's Friday "analysis" piece at the Los Angeles Times has to be near the top of any "worst" list.
