As if media behavior concerning a motive of Sunday’s Orlando terror attack hadn’t already sunk towards the bottom, NBC’s Dateline vastly accelerated the spin not toward radical Islamists but gun control with correspondent Josh Mankiewicz lecturing the American people that Islam almost never related to mass shootings but “our long history” of people dying are instead.

Each of the network evening newscasts devoted the duration of their air time to the terrorist attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando and, unfortunately, the networks immediately rushed to the issue of gun control and did only the bare minimum to highlight Omar Mateen’s radical Islamic beliefs. 

Closing out a special edition NBC Nightly News on Sunday night, weekday anchor Lester Holt and correspondent Harry Smith irresponsibly framed the Orlando terror attack on a gay nightclub as being an issue of gun control and mass shootings instead of one concerning the ideology of radical Islamists and anyone who wavers from it.

As news broke Friday in The Wall Street Journal about Hillary Clinton’s private server containing e-mails discussing classified drone strikes, on NBC’s Today, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd assured viewers that he and his media colleagues would cover the scandal everyday if not for their obsession with Donald Trump’s controversies.

On Friday, Morning Joe viewers got a dose of MSNBC’s finest hypocrisy. After hailing Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren as a “progressive champion” for Hillary Clinton on Thursday, on Friday, NBC’s Today doubled down as co-host Savannah Guthrie led the show by cheering the left-wing lawmaker formerly endorsing the presumptive Democratic nominee: “Clinton's secret weapon?...Is Warren on the VP short list? The speculation that has the political world spinning.”

Fox News reporters and a select number of others have been known to grill White House Press Secretaries in the Obama years and Thursday saw another installment as the Fox News Channel’s chief Washington correspondent James Rosen hammered current Press Secretary Josh Earnest on subjects ranging from President Obama’s Hillary Clinton endorsement to her e-mail scandal.

Less than 24 hours before President Barack Obama came out to endorse Hillary Clinton for president, MSNBC host Chris Matthews ended Wednesday night’s Hardball by complaining that the American people (and presumably the media too) didn’t spend enough time on Tuesday “salut[ing]” Clinton for what she’s “accomplished in this historic struggle” for women’s rights.

The cable networks ran a full-court press in covering President Obama’s endorsement on Thursday afternoon of Hillary Clinton with MSNBC giving Brian Williams the keys to the network for a few hours and, in the first 10 minutes, he seemed to blame talk radio for not reminding voters of Donald Trump’s birtherim enough that was, in his words, an “original sin.”
