WASHINGTON -- Over the weekend in the Wall Street Journal, Brian Lamb, the founder of C-Span, tendered a Solomonic statement in his valedictory interview after some 40 years before the television cameras. Said Lamb, “Lying is the word that I would use to describe this town.” And he went on, “I don't know if it will ever stop. It's gotten worse rather then getting better, and both sides do it.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports Thursday afternoon, nervous Hardball host Chris Matthews lectured Democrats to “sober up” about the 2020 presidential race and not just have “a lot of fun” following far-left “flavor-of-the-month” candidates. He said all of this in the context of applauding Joe Biden officially launching his campaign, calling it “thrilling.”

The Resistance is still having a really hard time accepting the fact that President Trump won the 2016 presidential election fair and square. Now that the Mueller report has been released and concluded that there was no collusion between the Russians and Trump’s campaign, a different narrative has to emerge.

On Thursday morning, NBC’s Today show cheered former Vice President Joe Biden officially entering the 2020 presidential race and delighted in him taking “direct aim” at President Trump with a nasty campaign video. Correspondent Andrea Mitchell was particularly enthralled, touting the “dramatic” video “using images from the Charlottesville white supremacist march.”

Having decided that a new life goal is to lobby for the impeachment of President Trump, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews also made clear over the last week that another objective is to make clear to guests and viewers that Trump’s an illegitimate President because he “won a fluke election” with “Russian help” and that Democrats need “a cheering section.”

All three networks led Thursday morning with former Vice President Joe Biden’s long-awaited announcement that he would run for president in 2020. ABC’s Good Morning America focused heavily on Biden’s appeal to Democrats’ “patriotism” and “American values,” with correspondent Terry Moran gushing about Biden taking back this “nationalism” message for “progressives.”

South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg sure seems to be taking a liking to the Hollywood crowd these days. Lavish donations aside, the attention from all those pretty people must be exhilarating for a guy that looks like the MC at a local Star Trek convention. During a fawning report on Thursday’s Today show about former Vice President Joe Biden officially entering the 2020 presidential race, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell briefly noted that the Democratic frontrunner’s first campaign fundraiser will be hosted “At the home of David Cohen, Senior Vice President of Comcast, parent company of NBCUniversal.”
