First Trump transition

Politico allowed their senior staff writer Ankush Khardori to reveal again his loathing of Trump in an article titled "You Should Worry About Kash Patel Running the FBI." He claimed Patel "calls to mind the specter of J. Edgar Hoover, the infamous FBI director whose nearly 50-year stint running the agency until 1972 was marked by egregious abuses of power."

Reacting to a clip in which accused murderer Luigi Mangione speaks of "lived experience," Joe Scarborough pretends to be unfamiliar with the phrase, saying "What does that mean? It's lived experience?"  He later goes on a rant, criticizing the qualifications of Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth.

On CNN This Morning, former Biden comms director Kate Bedingfield says that Biden's pardon on Hunter was justified, given Trump's alleged plans to go after opponents in the new administration. She expresses understanding of why Democrats are frustrated that Biden was not more "forthcoming" about his plans, and she expresses the wish that Biden had expressed his "ambiguity" about the pardon…

The incontrovertible top story of the day is Joe Biden's pardoning of his son Hunter, and the president having repeatedly lied in promising not to do so. But Joe Scarborough doesn't describe the pardon as even one of the day's two top stories.  Instead, he buries it 51 minutes into Morning Joe. When last week Mika Brzezinski said that she and Joe Scarborough would like to have a face-to-face meeting with Trump, I wrote: "As for scoring an interview with Trump himself any time soon, don't bet the rent money at Polymarkets on it, Mika!" Oy, was I wrong! On today's Morning Joe, Mika announced that this past Friday, she and Joe did indeed meet with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. 

Much as we’re seeing today, in 2016 liberal reporters and commentators savaged Donald Trump’s first group of appointees as “radical” and “racist” “ignoramuses” who “disdain the missions of their assigned agencies.”

To comment on Trump's cabinet nominees, Sunday's episode of MSNBC's The Weekend has Chuck Rocha, a Democrat strategist, as a guest.  In his previous position as a senior union official, Rocha had been convicted of one count of felony embezzlement, and “acknowledged responsibility for the other 17 counts." Rocha compared Trump's nominees to the contents of a "junk drawer."
