Prior to Sunday’s Oscars, actor Robert De Niro traveled over to HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher to warn that if Trump wins in November, then Trump will “come looking for me.” Later, on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC, De Niro claimed Trump is simultaneously “so [bleep] stupid” and a “[bleep] moron.”

CNN liberals Kate Bedingfield and Ashley Allison, both former Biden campaign officials from 2020, were left stammering and bewildered during Sunday’s State of the Union (the CNN show with host Jake Tapper) when Republican commentator Scott Jennings and former Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) ran circles around them and schooled them on President Biden’s border disaster.

In December 2023, the Colorado Supreme Court, in a 4-3 decision based on the “insurrection” clause of the 14th Amendment, ruled former President Donald Trump ineligible to appear on Colorado’s 2024 presidential primary ballot. “I know the American story.” So opens a new Biden ad with those words from the candidate/president as they show images of the KKK and of Trump. One suspects the Biden campaign staff doesn’t know (or doesn't care about) the factual American story - not to mention, importantly, the media outlets reporting on the ad. Which party had all the ties to the KKK?

It’s not been a good couple of days for ABC’s reputation as a hard-hitting journalistic enterprise. Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with ABC, NBC, and CBS on Friday to recap President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address and discuss the campaign. While all three networks condensed the interviews for their respective nightly news shows, ABC’s World News Tonight edits were the most sympathetic to Harris.

Unfortunately, Friday’s CBS Mornings followed the lead of ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today in forgoing actual critiques of President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address on Thursday. Instead, it heaped praise on the “fiery” and “fired up” Biden going “on the offensive” and proved he “has the energy, the fire in the belly to serve another four years”.

President Biden’s angry, bitter, and shouty State of the Union address got rave reviews from the Cackling Coven of ABC’s The View on Friday. Co-host Sara Haines enjoyed that it didn’t trigger her “depression” and “anxiety,” while faux-conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin proclaimed it “the first time” she felt “he could beat Donald Trump.” And those were some of the more lucid takes.

Just as ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday got weak knees over President Biden’s State of the Union address, NBC’s Today followed suit by swooning over the “energized” and “feisty” President’s “mix of energy, humor, combativeness” to deliver a “poignant” speech with “an optimistic view” on the economy standing up for “main street.”

CBS chief political analyst John Dickerson joined Stephen Colbert on Thursday for a special live edition of The Late Show, where the two fawned over President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address by claiming that simply by giving the speech, Biden “reknits those bonds” of democracy.
