Whoopi Attacks Trump’s Grandkids: ‘They’re Trying to Humanize Him!’

July 18th, 2024 7:42 PM

Not even a week had gone by since former President Trump was shot in the head in a failed assassination attempt and The View’s Whoopi Goldberg was already decrying efforts to “humanize” the man who’s name she refuses to say without spitting on the ground. During Thursday’s episode, Goldberg lashed out at Trump’s grandchildren, who were attending the Republican National Convention with their grandfather because “they’re trying to humanize him.”

In addition to images coming out of the convention showing Trump surrounded by his grandchildren in the VIP box, including the younger ones clinging to him, Goldberg took particular issue with 17-year-old Kai Trump, Don Jr.’s daughter from his first marriage, who spoke at the convention.

"To me he’s just a normal grandpa. He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking. He always wants to know how we’re doing in school. When I made the high honor roll he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me," she told the crowd.

That’s right, Goldberg was triggered by a teenager who loves her grandfather.

“Now, for me, I have a lot of faith in the American people,” Goldberg proclaimed as she wound-up her attack, “and I know his grandchild was up on the thing and they're trying to humanize him and change your idea about who this guy is. Don't fall for that!” She then glared at the camera (pictured below).

Oh the horror! People will see Trump as a human and not a dehumanized hate object!

Eelier in the segment, co-host Joy Behar had the sads because it was looking increasingly likely that President Biden would drop out of the race:

It’s so depressing, the whole thing. You know, I think he's going to drop out now. That's my feeling. I mean, I don't have any information, but when Pelosi gets into this and Schumer and Schiff and Jeffries and they all say ‘it's time to go.’ You know, he just -- the COVID, in a way, is like a good way for him to get out because he needs this time to show how strong he is and he's sick and the time is very, very short now.

Not long after Goldberg raged at a child, staunchly racist and anti-Semitic co-host Sunny Hostin (the descendant of slave owners) raged at the critics of Vice President Kamala Harris. “Kamala, if she is leapfrogged and there's some open convention, no Democratic nominee with win without the black vote. Black women will not support Kamala Harris being…overlooked,” she threatened.

“She is ready to be the president. She's been in the Oval Office with him. She's been in the Situation Room with him. How dare people suggest that she is incompetent? How dare people!” she bitterly declared.

Adding: “No Democratic candidate has won in the past five decades without the black vote. I think if they overlook and leapfrog over Kamala Harris, that is going to be a problem.”

JOY BEHAR: It’s so depressing, the whole thing.

So, I don't know what's going to happen, but I wouldn't put it past them to just say, ‘Look, Joe, we can't’ -- you know, Nancy Pelosi, she would not bring a vote to the floor unless she knew it was going to get passed.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah.

BEHAR: This is not a woman who plays games and she doesn't feel he can win I don't think.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Now, for me, I have a lot of faith in the American people, and I don't know very many men who want to be talked to the way that this man has been talking to men in his audience. I don't know any women – and I know his grandchild was up on the thing and they're trying to humanize him and change your idea about who this guy is. Don't fall for that!

BEHAR: Trump you're talking about.

HOSTIN: Yeah. Yeah.

BEHAR: She’s talking about Trump.

[Applause]

HOSTIN: Kamala, if she is leapfrogged and there's some open convention, no Democratic nominee with win without the black vote. Black women will not support Kamala Harris being looked over. Why? Because she --

GOLDBERG: Overlooked.

HOSTIN: Overlooked. She is ready to be the president. She's been in the Oval Office with him. She's been in the Situation Room with him. How dare people suggest that she is incompetent? How dare people!

[Applause]

[Crosstalk]

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Just to be clear, I suggested absolutely no such thing.

HOSTIN: Not you, but there are people who are –

FARAH GRIFFIN: She's entirely qualified.

HOSTIN: They're suggesting that, not you.

FARAH GRIFFIN: I do think I would be stunned if they went a different direction and voters stayed home and let Trump win though purely because the vice president was passed over.

[Crosstalk]

BEHAR: Isn't it up to a few swing states right now and not -- it's like a lot of white people now also.

HOSTIN: Yes.

GOLDBERG: There's always been a lot of white people.

[Laughter and applause]

BEHAR: I know that, but in these states.

HOSTIN: No Democratic candidate has won in the past five decades without the black vote.

BEHAR: So, do you think if they had a white candidate the black vote would go to Trump?

HOSTIN: I think if they overlook and leapfrog over Kamala Harris, that is going to be a problem.
