Double Standards

The Hollywood left is so unhinged that it almost seems like they’re cheerleading for coronavirus to be an apocalyptic event, just so President Trump looks bad. Tinseltown’s most deranged went about that far, tweeting so rabidly about the threat of the virus under Trump, and the stock market plunge in response, that they revealed almost a level of glee about it.

New York Times congressional correspondent Carl Hulse predictably shrugged off Sen. Chuck Schumer’s volatile verbal threats directed at two Supreme Court justices nominated by the Trump administration: “Schumer Regrets Content, But Not Spirit, of Warning.” Hulse generally gives Democrats the benefit of the doubt when they make nasty attacks on Republicans, and similarly shrugged off Schumer’s…

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has dropped out of the presidential race, and The New York Times (which bizarrely endorsed both Warren and Sen. Amy Klobuchar) is bitter. The headline to Friday’s front-page “news analysis” by Lisa Lerer blamed sexism: “A Two-Man Race? Women Aren’t Surprised.”

We always knew that once Elizabeth Warren had to exit the primary race there would be plenty of complaints that it was because she was a woman and America is a sexist place, especially from Hollywood. Though it’s pretty ironic to see the woke Hollywood crowd lecture the country about this.

More coronavirus bias from the New York Times, with congressional reporter-columnist Carl Hulse on Thursday, “A Sense of Emergency And Fear Can Become Powerful Political Tools,” pretending that only Republicans play partisan politics with potential pandemics. And Maggie Haberman and Annie Karni positively gloated in a “news analysis,” “A Bad Week for the President, Made Worse by Biden.”

Suddenly, “sanctuary cities” are a problem worthy of front-page coverage in the New York Times -- but only if they are pro-life  places that are opposed to abortion clinics. Reporter Dionne Searcey made Wednesday’s front page with her report keyed to a city council meeting in Texas. Note the hostile choice of words in in the headline: "‘Sanctuary Cities’ for Unborn Reflect a Nation’s Rising Walls…

A recent sympathetic article on abortion in Bloomberg Businessweek offered a textbook lesson in liberal media bias. Written by Cynthia Koons and Rebecca Greenfield, the February 27 article’s headline whined that “Abortion Clinics Are Getting Nickel-and-Dimed Out of Business.” 

Hollywood director Spike Lee should do the right thing and stop demonizing African Americans who support President Trump. On his Instagram account, he showed black Trump supporters praying with the president. He added the caption "Massa, We Love You Massa. We Gonna Pray Fo' You Massa.’ Singing- ‘Swing Low,Sweet Chariot’.”

What on earth is Joss Whedon smoking? The filmmaker behind Marvel’s The Avengers, sci fi TV series Firefly, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer posted an unhinged and downright strange assessment of the current state of American politics, insisting that despite all their flaws, Democrats are at least trying to do the right thing while Republicans are “murderous” and “poisonous.”

Continuing to politicize the coronavirus, the New York Times Abby Goodnough on Friday attacked President Trump putting Vice President Mike Pence in charge of the coronavirus task force in “Trump Said Pence Had ‘Talent’ on Health Policy. A Review of His Record.” Compare Goodnough’s instant hostility to Pence, with the hosannas that greeted Ron Klain, political operative, as Obama’s Ebola czar: "…

The media’s treatment of the coronavirus outbreak is insane. Instead of the typical intense fear-mongering, pundits and commentators have been weaponizing the disease politically, insisting that the Trump administration is exacerbating the situation, and even going so far as to push the idea of spreading the virus at Trump rallies.  

On Monday's Amanpour & Co. show, the program demonstrated a double standard in challenging the Republican characterization of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders's socialist views when, by contrast, in the same show, former Barack Obama advisor Dan Pfeiffer was not challenged on his assertion that Republicans have become "white nationalist authoritarian" with the election of President…
