The legacy media’s ongoing coverage of the current government shutdown continues to maintain a Democrat frame, to the point of ridiculousness. Case in point, Kristen Welker’s interview of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on NBC’s Meet the Depressed.

The dumbest news cycle in recent memory continues apace, as the legacy nightly news continue to cover the Trump administration’s construction of an ornate ballroom in the East Wing as though it were Watergate. But there are signs that this story may yet fade.

It is not often that legacy media national newscasts devote precious A-block time to what amounts to an ongoing renovation with zoning board issues. But in an endless Trump Resistance media loop, the construction of the new White House ballroom is a unique affront to the nation’s institutional integrity- and draws such coverage.

CBS’s Weijia Jiang found herself on the CBS Evening News complaining about the ballroom currently under construction in the East Wing of The White House. This was NOT how she’d planned her evening to turn out.

During a lengthy interview on the most recent broadcast of ABC’s Sunday political affairs show This Week, host Jon Karl tried to press Speaker Mike Johnson on the issue of presidential clemencies. Johnson instead took Karl to school, reminding him about other, more inconvenient recent presidential abuses of the clemency power. 

The “Opponent of the President” narrative machine fired up once again, as news broke of the 18-count indictment handed down against former National Security Adviser John Bolton. The legacies lost their collective minds as they rehashed familiar tropes about weaponization and retribution, for purposes of trying to absolve Bolton in the court of public opinion.

At CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip, more colloquially known as the Thunderdome, we are often reminded that if it weren’t for double standards there would be none at all. So it is, now, with comparisons to terrorists made at the hallowed Table.

This one particularly pompous and lacking self-awareness, but perhaps mindful that there are only so many of these left before Bari Weiss fully takes over as Editor-in-Chief of CBS News.

In an embarrassing interview, CBS’s Margaret Brennan sat passively as Illinois Democrat Senator Tammy Duckworth repeated what is now known as the Zip-Tie Hoax: the debunked claim that children were zip-tied during ICE raids in Chicago. Additionally, Duckworth was allowed to incite further violence against ICE with her incendiary claim that they engage in “Gestapo tactics.”

ABC News has absolutely flipped their wig over what is commonly known as the “come to Pete” speech, delivered by the Secretary of War himself in front of the nation’s top military brass assembled at Marine Corps Base Quantico (VA). So much so that for a moment, correspondent Martha Raddatz seemed to forget Secretary Hegseth's actual job.
