Bias by Omission

Before the Department of Homeland Security shutdown at midnight on Saturday as a result of Democrats demanding certain ICE reforms, ABC’s World News Tonight host David Muir and chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce declined to inform their viewers that ICE will be largely immune from the shutdown.

PBS’s Tuesday Frontline documentary on Venezuela sought to highlight the series of events that led to the January capture of Nicolas Maduro. Naturally, that meant focusing in on Maduro’s corrupt and authoritarian rule, but there was one word noticeably absent from the history lesson: socialism.

It is interesting what the Elitist Media evening news networks choose to report, and what they choose to omit. Immigration is shaping up to be the hit-button issue of this midterm election. One drawback, though, is that these types of stories require a steady flow of victims in order to keep the issue in front of the public.
