Taxpayer-Funded 'Public Radio' Station Posts Radical 'Resistance Calendar'

June 10th, 2025 4:37 PM

Just how leftist can taxpayer-funded “public radio” be? Take a look at KGNU Radio in the blue city of Boulder, Colorado. In the same week that Boulder witnessed a fire-bombing attack on Jewish protests calling for the release of hostages in Gaza, KGNU posted a “Resistance Calendar” listing a pile of local leftist activism opportunities!

This is the promotional copy:

In an effort to amplify the work being done on the streets every single day by dedicated changemakers standing up for justice and speaking out against those in power who are attacking our friends and neighbors, we’re going to start posting a “Resistance Calendar” to our website on Thursdays.

Surprise, they didn’t list the hostage advocacy on June 1, but there was this anti-Israel protest advertised:

Saturday,  5/31:

What: Stop Starving Gaza!

Who is organizing: Jewish Voice for Peace, Colorado Palestine Coalition, Shoes off Collective, Doctors Against Genocide

When: Saturday, May 31 @ 5 p.m.

Where: 1701 Wynkoop St, Denver, CO 80202 (outside Union Station

Why: Organizers say, “Join Jewish Voice for Peace and allies as we break our 24 hour solidarity fast and call on Israel to stop starving Gaza.”

KGNU's broadcast schedule does not contain any NPR News shows. It's actually to the left of NPR! On weekdays, they air radical Pacifica Radio host Amy Goodman's Democracy Now. On Mondays, they add The Ralph Nader Radio Hour, and Counterspin from the far-left media watchdog Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting. They love the far-left shows on other weekdays, too, including from Laura Flanders and Project Censored.

Nevertheless, KGNU's financial report notes they received $237,082 from the CPB in 2021, and $115,122 in 2022. KGNU is getting a snazzy new headquarters from local taxpayer money: "The first $1.25 million donated to our campaign will be matched by a City of Boulder capital improvements grant, thanks to the City of Boulder voters who overwhelmingly supported the 2017 Community, Culture, and Safety ballot initiative."

How radical are they? They also push events by the "Party for Socialism and Liberation," which featured as a member on Elias Rodriguez, the man in custody for killing two young Israeli embassy employees outside the Capital Jewish Museum in DC. The PSL insisted it wasn't associated with Rodriguez, although MEMRI reported they sided with the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, claiming the United States "is the terrorist." PSL is actively involved in anti-ICE protests, including now in Los Angeles, and in Boulder:

Monday, 6/2:

What: CO Stands with Immigrants: No Mass Deportations – Organizing Meetings

Who is organizing: Party for Socialism and Liberation – Denver, Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition

When: Monday, June 2, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Shorter Community AME Church, Denver, CO, USA

Why: Organizers say, “THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL DEFEND OUR COMMUNITIES! Thousands of Coloradans are coming together and packing these meetings to get organized to stand together with our neighbors, against ICE terror. Come out and learn about the important developments of the last week, how we understand them, and—most importantly—how we can come together to fight back. Get the precise info you need, plug into action items, and meet the thousands of others in your community who are committed to standing against deportations and ICE terror.”

"ICE terror"!

It turns out KGNU warmly hosted an event with PSL presidential candidate Claudia De La Cruz, as you can see from the arm-in-arm photo on their Instagram page. She's an "organizer committed to building people power" with "deep emotional clarity" in pushing for the "end of capitalism." Tell us again why the supporters of capitalism should have to pay for this radical "public" radio station!
