PBS omnipresence Ken Burns feels so secure in his little public-broadcasting empire that he can put his name on fundraising emails for Harris-Walz with no fear anyone in government will stop paying for and airing his documentaries on PBS. The House held hearings in 1999 over Boston PBS superstation WGBH exchanging email lists with the Democratic Party. This goes even further. Will Congress ask questions about this?
MRC's Brent Baker receives Harris-Walz emails. Under the scare headline "Our democracy hangs in the balance," Burns is asking for Kamala moola:
"Democracy hangs in the balance" clearly means you can't vote for Trump, because he'll end Democracy. That's how he "places things in context." Just like Dan Rather would say it. This is the rest of the letter, after the first appeal for a little cash (bold in the original):
I believe history will judge that President Biden and Vice President Harris have legislative accomplishments that make them one of our nation’s most effective administrations. Vice President Harris has served the American people her entire career, and she has proven time and again that she has the temperament and tenacity to be a steady and adept leader.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, promises an easy fix to our myriad problems that he will make even worse. He has threatened the most basic tenets of our democracy, such as the peaceful transfer of power, and he bears the historic distinction of being the first former President to have 34 felony convictions.
It is tempting, knowing the clarity of choice that stands before us, to presume that most other Americans feel as we do -- that there is no real choice.
But history has shown us that when it comes to Donald Trump, complacency is our greatest enemy. We have only 41 days left in this campaign. If we assume we can do nothing and win, we may find there is nothing we can ever do again when we lose. After all, as Donald Trump said to his supporters, if he wins this election, it will be the last time they ever have to vote.
Thank you,
Ken Burns
Let's remind you that this multi-millionaire leftist hack also dropped these stink bombs on Ron DeSantis last year. On CNN, he said Florida's educational standards were authoritarian: It "feels like a Soviet system or the way the Nazis would build a Potemkin village...It's a huge threat to the Republic."
"Nonpartisan" Ken Burns has already donated $3,300 to Harris this year, and the same amount to other Democrats: Sen. Sherrod Brown, Sen. Jon Tester, and House candidate John Avlon, the former CNN journalist.
PS: Burns uncorked the same gas on Morning Joe this morning:
There's @PBS for you: Ken Burns on "Morning Joe" today behind hailed for saying Trump is "the opioid of all opioids." Reelecting him means we "end up re-enslaved." Then he fusses on this unanimous show that the media "equalizes" things, like both sides should be probed. pic.twitter.com/QL2u47gaGb
