MSNBC's Matthew Dowd: Today's Conservatives Would Call Jesus a Woke Groomer Socialist

Nicolle Wallace's show on Wednesday was quite a hootenanny. First, Wallace came unhinged in comparing Govs. Ron DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin to Russians, and the 'Russians get their soldiers to rape children by dehumanizing them." Just after that hateful message, Matthew Dowd was attacking the conservative Christians as bad Christians who would disparage Jesus if he walked the streets today:

The entire message of the Gospels of the Easter holidays was love one another. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If Jesus Christ was alive today, he would be called a groomer, he would be called woke and he would be called a socialist.

Dowd claims to be a church-going Catholic, but the average Christian would elbow Dowd about "um, we're taught that Jesus is alive today. He's just not walking the streets or appearing on cable TV." But MSNBC treated Dowd like Bluto in Animal House talking about the Germans invading Pearl Harbor. Let him speak, he's on a roll!

DOWD: If he was live today, if he was speaking the message he spoke in the Gospels today about treating everybody with dignity. Jesus Christ hung around with prostitutes and tax collectors. He was nailed to a cross because he spoke on behalf of the most marginalized people in the Middle East.

And the idea that a certain segment of the population has tried to capture the faith and corrupt a message that I've been a follower of since I was baptized and was confirmed and served on the altar in the course of this is something I think all of us -- it’s not just people of faith but all of us, whether Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, whatever you happen to be, or don't have a faith at all, the message that love conquers hate is a message all of us, all of us should be pushing, but especially Christians in the country who cannot stand what has happened to our faith.

This attack on Christians who object to teaching kindergarteners to doubt their gender "assigned at birth" undercuts Dowd's notion that we should all love one another -- except those right-wing corrupters of Jesus.

Dowd is right that he's trotted this out before. Last November, Wallace read his tweet "As I sat in church today, I was thinking, if Jesus were here today, he would be accused of being woke." That was about Critical Race Theory. "Decency" and accusing white people of being implicitly racist are the same thing in his mind.

Last September, Wallace brought up EWTN reporter Owen Jensen asked how Biden could be a "devout Catholic" and completely pro-abortion. Dowd said the question was "offensive" and "The idea these folks think that the word pro-life belongs in their mouth, it ought to be ripped out of their mouth."

On Thursday night, Fox's Brian Kilmeade joked "The Jesus I know would give him a Breathalyzer.... He's out of his mind."

Dowd's Gospel of woke groomer socialist Jesus was brought to you by Dell.
