Danny DeVito's Oscar Smear: 'The Entire Country Is a Racist Country'

Via John Nolte at Breitbart, we see tiny actor-director Danny DeVito can make a big charge of American racism on the controversy over the all-white acting nominations for the Academy Awards.

“It’s unfortunate that the entire country is a racist country. So it’s an example of the fact that even though some great people have given some great performances in movies, they weren’t even thought about. We are living in a country that discriminates and has certain racist tendencies. So sometimes it manifests itself in things like this [the Oscar nominations] and it’s illuminated. But just generally speaking, we’re a bunch of racists.”

The Huffington Post treated this like a reality check: "Danny DeVito doesn't mess around." Actors Don Cheadle and Sam Neill also decried the all-white nominations on the AP video, but didn't match DeVito's "racist country" attacks.

Nolte added:

A quick look at DeVito’s producer credits reveals that he is speaking primarily for himself. This is an individual with the actual power to cast black actors, make black films, and instead goes the full-whitey.

DeVito even co-opted the  Civil Rights-era “Freedom Riders” to make a white bread movie called Freedom Writers where the top four actors are white and the patronizing story is about whitey swooping in to save poor minority kids.
