NYC Mayor Has Hamas Sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil To Dinner, Big 3 Network Newscasts Ignore

March 12th, 2026 4:56 PM

Suppose the Mayor of the largest city in the United States had invited an anti-Black or anti-LGBT activist, who had led protests on college campuses where the targets of those protests were harassed, prevented from attending class, and in some cases faced violence, to dinner at his home. You can imagine that the media would be on top of that story 24/7.

But in the case of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Sunday meal at Gracie Mansion with Mahmoud  Khalil, who was facing deportation by the Trump administration, which labeled him a Hamas supporter, the media mostly ignored it.

Monday evening Mamdani posted a picture of his weekend sit-down with the anti-Israel Khalil, which occurred one day after two ISIS inspired attackers hurled explosive devices during a protest outside of Gracie Mansion, an attack which Mamdani did not originally attribute to radical Islamic terror, and days after he defended his wife for liking several pro October 7th posts. Yet on Tuesday the ABC, CBS, and NBC nightly newscasts skipped the story, along with the PBS News Hour, and Fox News's Special Report.

Fox's Hannity did cover it, as part of a segment with Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren.

HANNITY: Mayor Zohran 'Commi, Marxist' Mamdani, he's facing major backlash for hosting Hamas sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil at Gracie Mansion for dinner. Now according to Mamdani, he invited Mahmoud to commemorate the anniversary of his detainment by immigration officials as part of the crackdown on noncitizen students, who helped lead the widespread disruptive campus riots across the country. Why didn't they do that for the people of Iran? I wonder. Anyway, tonight, the question is will the Marxist Mayor of New York invite the heroic NYPD officer who jumped into action to tackle the Gracie Mansion terror suspects this weekend to have dinner at Gracie mansion.

Hannity then welcomed in Lahren great question, "Between that, the lying about the police ambush and his wife liking what happened, 70 times after October 7, how does he get away with that?"

LAHREN: Well he gets away with it because he told New York City exactly what he was for, exactly what he believed in and they voted for him anyway. When someone tells you who they are, believe them. I mean this man is shameless. He does not care, and the fact that we have this dinner, right, this is a day after those two teen terrorists, these ISIS-inspired terrorists try to blow New Yorkers up, outside of Gracie Mansion, then you flash forward a day and he's inviting Mahmoud Khalil who lead anti-Jewish protests, anti-Israel protests, terrorizing Jewish students for months with these protests, invites him to dinner and posts a photo of it.

As for the networks, ABC's World News Tonight with David Muir did find time for dolphins spotted in NYC waters and an owl in a New York store.

MUIR: Tonight in New York City, the dolphins in the East River. Pods of dolphins spotted splashing around the river. The dolphins putting on quite a show not far from Randalls Island The sighting happening on the first 70-degree day in New York City since October. We are just as excited.

In upstate New York tonight, quite a find at one antique store, look closely here. On left, a cookie jar shaped like a chicken. On the right, well that's a real owl, snuggled up, taking a nap at this shop in East Durham. Store employees telling us they called in an environmental officer who gently cradled the sleepy owl, releasing it back in the woods. That's quite something.

NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas also covered the dolphins, but did not report on the latest on the suspect in the shooting at the home of Rihanna, a story which ABC and CBS covered extensively.  Yes, the liberal media has its priorities, and protecting Mayor Mamdani seems to be one of them.
