Just how extreme do the 2020 Democrat presidential candidates have to be to shock even CNN anchors? So extreme that they either support voting rights for convicted terrorists such as the Boston bomber as Bernie Sanders endorsed or willing to have a "conversation" about it as Kamala Harris suggested before changing her mind.
It was Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon who professed to be "stunned" by this felon voting rights position which was expressed on Tuesday's Cuomo Prime Time:
CUOMO: Top 2020 Democratic hopefuls have been following Bernie Sanders' lead on many progressive policy - policy stances. But, last night, Senator Sanders said that people in prison, even terrorists like the Boston bomber, have the right to vote while they're in prison. D. Lemon, what's your take?
LEMON: I was stunned as you could see - you could see on - on our faces, and the responses. Listen, I'm glad we asked the question. I'm glad you asked the question first to Bernie, and then we talked to the other candidates, the subsequent candidates who came on, and it's - it's interesting. I think - I think you were right that it's going to be a campaign for those who said either "Yes, they should be able to vote," even the - the most awful people among us, or we should have a conversation about it. I think it's going to be an issue.
Yes, even Don Lemon was stunned by Sanders' support for terrorists voting while incarcerated. They continued:
CUOMO: Senator Kamala Harris said that she has now revised her opinion, and saying, "Those who are in prison, no."
LEMON: No.
CUOMO: They don't get the vote.
LEMON: No. Well, last night, that's not what she said.
CUOMO: Yes.
That was last night when she wanted to have a "conversation" about that before she was able to put her finger to the wind to check the prevailing public mood and changed her mind.
LEMON: But she - she is - listen, she can revise her position and change her mind or maybe she just didn't get it out last night. But I think that is going to be an issue. And I think it's - it's - it's a real - it's an interesting subject or question to debate. But I think most people in America feel like once you've paid your debt to society, maybe you should have the opportunity to go out and vote, and at least exercise your constitutional rights. But if you're in prison, if you have created - committed a crime, like the Boston Marathon bombings, or if you just - you've assaulted or abused a child, I don't think Americans would - most Americans would want people like that to vote.
Yup! It sure is going to be an issue. That Kamala Harris was even willing to have a conversation about letting the Boston bomber vote is telling. However, at the time she must have felt obliged to match Bernie Sanders for far left nuttiness which stunned even the two CNN anchors.
