Ed Schultz Defends Politico By Calling Ann Coulter 'Rightwing Hate Machine Merchant'

The shills at MSNBC spent Monday giving their full support for Politico's hit piece on Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.

Ed Schultz did his part by beginning his program with what he called a "blockbuster story" and then immediately attacked Cain's defenders starting with conservative author Ann Coulter (video follows with transcript and commentary):

ED SCHULTZ, HOST: Politico posted this blockbuster story on Sunday night. Then the flood gates opened. Rightwing hate machine merchant Ann Coulter instantly jumped to Herman Cain's defense.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANN COULTER: It's outrageous the way liberals treat a black conservative. This is another high-tech lynching. Even the allegations here…

GERALDO RIVERA: The words of Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court justice?

COULTER: That's right. There's nothing liberals fear more than a black conservative.

Schultz was apparently so amped up to defend Politico that he clumsily combined a number of classic liberal epithets frequently lobbed at conservatives, unless of course he was suggesting Coulter sells rightwing hate machines - whatever they are.

From what I can tell about one of the Media Research Center's closest friends, all she sells are books - and a lot of them.

Also quite amusing was Schultz's contention later in the segment that Cain's supposedly evolving recollection of this decades-old incident disqualifies him to be president.

As this is sure to be one of the charges by the Obama-loving media in the coming days and weeks, they should be reminded that this certainly wasn't how they felt when former President Clinton's story changed during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

It sure has been amazing to watch media members who thirteen years ago argued "it's just sex" now go totally apoplectic over allegations by unnamed sources about "inappropriate behavior" like hand gestures that supposedly happened in the '90s.

The hypocrisy is indeed astonishing despite Cain himself predicting it months ago.

Readers are advised to not miss Coulter's fuller comments on this matter.
