Fox News Hating White House Aide Anita Dunn to Step Down

November 10th, 2009 12:31 PM

White House Communications Director Anita Dunn is stepping down at the end of the month.

NewsBusters readers should remember Dunn as the outspoken Adminstration official who made quite a splash in October when she said the Fox News Channel "really is not a news network at this point."

Now, according to the Associated Press, she's passing the baton:

White House officials say Anita Dunn will leave her West Wing office but remain an adviser to President Barack Obama. Dan Pfeiffer will become communications director for the White House.

The officials described the move on the condition of anonymity because the announcement had not been made.

As Michelle Malkin is reporting, this isn't necessarily cause for conservative celebration:

She’s handing the reins over to her young protégé and fellow Tom Daschle flack, Dan Pfeiffer.

Dunn never planned to stay in the role permanently. So don’t mistake this for a Van Jones-style under-the-bus disappearance. She may be cutting back, but she’s not going anywhere.

It will be interesting to see what Pfeiffer's take is on Fox, and if the strategy has changed as a result of the GOP's strong showing in last week's elections.

Stay tuned.
