During Wednesday’s edition of ABC’s The View, fill-in moderator Joy Behar led the rest of the liberal cast in a “game” of floating other possible Democratic candidates for president if President Joe Biden decided to get out of the race. Racist co-host Sunny Hostin put up her heartthrob, California Governor Gavin Newsom. But when pressed on his state’s rampant homelessness crisis, she argued it was fine because he had the right Climate Change policies.
“So, we did talk about maybe the Republican ticket in case Trump gets indicted or brought to jail in handcuffs, whatever,” Behar prefaced the conversation following a commercial break. “But the question is, who would you put in there if Biden decides to get out of the race for whatever reason he comes up with?”
Hostin immediately spoke up to defend Biden and affirm that she didn’t “think he's going to get out” of the race. “Don't answer like a Republican,” Behar quipped, leading Hostin to say she hoped “the Democratic Party would rally around the vice president, Kamala Harris, the way they've rallied around Joe Biden.”
But she had a backup in Newsom and boasted that he was “responsible for one of the largest economies in our country, if not the largest economy.”
Behar pushed back a little by admitting that “California is in trouble all the time with a lot of homeless and a lot of problems they’re having.” Hostin stepped up to the plate to defend her man by arguing that Newsom’s Climate Change policies were good enough to overshadow the homeless:
BEHAR: Yeah, but California is in trouble all the time with a lot of homeless and a lot of problems they’re having.
HOSTIN: But they have a lot of good programs when it comes to climate change.
BEHAR: Yes.
HOSTIN: They have great programs in terms of job opportunity. They're doing -- they have great programs in terms of housing, they’re addressing that issue.
Co-host Sara Haines pushed back slightly, noting that Newsom likely couldn’t run the entire country like California because, “You know, cause you’re trying to answer to an electorate.”
For her alternative Democratic candidate, Haines proposed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg citing how “really great” he supposedly was. “Would the country put a gay president in the office? That is the question,” Behar asked. Hostin shot down the idea because America was “a homophobic country.”
Faux-conservative co-host Ana Navarro was really offended that they would dare think of other candidates besides Biden and pledged her loyalty to him. “Mothers Teresa could resuscitate and I would still support Joe Biden,” she proclaimed.
“Frankly, I'm going to support Joe Biden until Joe Biden tells me he's not running. Until then, I’m not entertaining this,” she decried their hypothetical.
The View’s downplaying of California’s homelessness crisis in favor of Climate Change policies was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Vicks and Liberty Mutual. Their contact information is linked.

11:31:17 a.m. EasternJOY BEHAR: So, we did talk about maybe the Republican ticket in case Trump gets indicted or brought to jail in handcuffs, whatever. But the question is, who would you put in there if Biden decides to get out of the race for whatever reason he comes up with?
SUNNY HOSTIN: Well, I don't think he's going to get out.
BEHAR: Don't answer like a Republican. It's not going to happen.
HOSTIN: I would hope the Democratic Party would rally around the vice president, Kamala Harris, the way they've rallied around Joe Biden. But if not, I think Gavin Newsom is --
BEHAR: California’s governor.
HOSTIN: -- responsible for one of the largest economies in our country, if not the largest economy.
SARA HAINES: You know, I don’t think lead the country the same way you lead California. You know, cause you’re trying to answer to an electorate.
I still think Pete Buttigieg is really great. Whenever I've seen him speak.
BEHAR: Would the country put a gay president in the office? That is the question.
HOSTIN: That’s my concern.
HAINES: I don't care. He's the best – [laughter] – he's really great.
[Applause]
HOSTIN: It's a homophobic country.
BEHAR: It’s a very homophobic. What about a woman. Gretchen Whitmer of – what is she?
[Collectively answer “Michigan”]
BEHAR: She’s good.
ANA NAVARRO: A woman. Mothers Teresa could resuscitate and I would still support Joe Biden. I don't want to entertain. I think it's theoretical. I think this doesn’t help.
BEHAR: It is theoretical. We're playing a game here, now.
NAVARRO: Frankly, I'm going to support Joe Biden until Joe Biden tells me he's not running. Until then, I’m not entertaining this.
