'Keep Your Mask On': Whoopi Claims 'Nobody Got Sick' While Wearing Masks

November 21st, 2022 5:55 PM

Whoopi Goldberg returned to The View on Monday after overcoming her second COVID infection this year. And despite being “boosted within an inch of [her] life,” she still had a “rough” time fighting it off. Rejecting facts and reality, she urged viewers to “keep your mask on” and falsely asserted that “nobody got sick” when masks were mandatory.

“I tell you, you know, you can get boosted within an inch of your life, and then the next thing you know, you got COVID again. Good God!” she lamented at the top of the program.

The View’s cognitive dissonance on the subject has been resounding. When announcing Goldberg’s diagnosis a week ago, co-host Sunny Hostin made a strange comment while touting how she got yet another booster: “I got it a couple of months ago and I did get a reaction to it but it made me feel safer.”

Goldberg also recounted that despite being boosted out the wazoo, this latest bout with COVID was a “rough” one:

HOSTIN: It still felt rough, huh?

GOLDBERG: Yeah. It wasn't feeling rough. It was rough.

HOSTIN: It was rough.

GOLDBERG: It was rough. You know, you get up and you think, “oh, I'm going to go -- oh, no, I'm not.” You know.

Hostin then disclosed that she took a trip to the free state of Florida over the weekend and whined about being the only one wearing a mask. “I was flying this weekend. I flew to Florida. I was the only person with a mask on. And I was thinking, you -- it's here still,” she huffed.

“So, let's wear our masks. Let's take the precautions,” she lectured to a completely masked audience. Goldberg agreed and suggested that people were out of practice when it came to wearing masks and falsely claimed “nobody got sick” while wearing one. “Now we've taken the masks off and all the stuff that used to happen to us all the time is happening again,” she added.

If wearing a mask was so effective, then why did so-called “double masking” become a thing for a short time? And hasn’t Whoopi been wearing hers if she knows how important they are?

But The View is not a place for critical thinking, thus their position is you need to wear one for “just a little” bit longer:

GOLDBERG: And so, you know, the true thing is if you really want to protect yourself, you probably need to keep your mask on a little more than you want to.

HOSTIN: Just a little more.

And any day now, two weeks to slow the spread will work.

This wasn’t the first time The View has spread COVID misinformation. In January, Goldberg said she got her first case after opening a window and gave it to co-host Ana Navarro “through the camera.” And Hostin bragged about staying isolated for the outdated CDC recommendation of 10 days. They followed the rules and still got sick, yet they’re sticking up for them anyway. And no liberal fact-checker will challenge them.

This demand to keep masking requirements was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Procter & Gamble and Olay. Their contact information is linked.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Yeah. Well, hello.

[Cheers and applause]

Thank you.

[Cheers and applause]

I tell you, you know, you can get boosted within an inch of your life and then the next thing you know, you got COVID again. Good God! But I don't have it now, and that's why I'm back at the table.

[Applause]

I will tell you, you know, we have been used to people saying, well, it wasn't that bad. This was a rough one. This was a rough one.

SUNNY HOSTIN: It still felt rough, huh?

GOLDBERG: Yeah. It wasn't feeling rough. It was rough.

HOSTIN: It was rough.

GOLDBERG: It was rough. You know, you get up and you think, “oh, I'm going to go -- oh, no, I'm not.” You know.

HOSTIN: It's interesting. We’ve been seeing this – We were worried about a resurgence during the holidays and I was flying this weekend. I flew to Florida. I was the only person with a mask on. And I was thinking, you -- it's here still, right? So, let's wear our masks. Let's take the precautions.

And the other thing I wanted to mention was my mother got something called RSV.

[Crosstalk]

HOSTIN: Which is what little kids are getting it, but she loves to volunteer at a nursery school twice a week. And it turned into pneumonia. She had to go to the hospital.

GOLDBERG: No fun.

SARA HAINES: Is she okay?

HOSTIN: She's okay now. Hi, mom. [Applause] But it was terrifying to see her not be able to breathe. The coughing.

GOLDBERG: This is no joke.

HOSTIN: There's stuff going around.

GOLDBERG: Well, this is – We have not worn, you know, we wore our masks. Everybody was mad, but nobody got sick.

HOSTIN: Yep.

GOLDBERG: Now we've taken the masks off and all the stuff that used to happen to us all the time is happening again. And because we have got so many different takes on COVID, you know, it's evolving here, it's evolving here. And so, you know, the true thing is if you really want to protect yourself, you probably need to keep your mask on a little more than you want to.

HOSTIN: Just a little more.

[Applause]

GOLDBERG: You know, but [cough] it’s, uh – If you hear me cough, I don't have it. It's just me trying to clear, you know, so you can understand me when I'm speaking.

HOSTIN: Yeah. Well, you had double pneumonia the first time around.

GOLDBERG: Well, not this time. Ages ago. Remember a long time ago? [In a mocking old person voice]

HOSTIN: I remember.

GOLDBERG [continuing voice]: When I first got it, it was just eating everything and then it had a feast.

HOSTIN: But we need you, Whoopi.

[Applause]

We missed you.

[Applause]

We missed you.

GOLDBERG: Well, I felt oftentimes the same about all of you.

[Laughter]

But I wasn't thinking about it because it was -- trying to breathe and trying to make sure I didn't do anything to make myself worse, Crazy stuff has been happening since last I saw you all.
