ABC Boosts Dems Lashing Catholic Bishops Denying Communion to Biden

On Friday, conservative Catholic Bishops drew the wrath of the liberal media and the radical left when they called on all bishops to deny the Eucharist to President Joe Biden because of his support for abortion. Things culminated on Sunday after 60 Democrats, who don’t really practice Catholic doctrine, got a boost from ABC’s Good Morning America after they signed a letter lashing out at their church.

With the declaration that they were going to “talk politics now,” co-host Dan Harris touted that “Joe Biden went to church this weekend amidst news that Catholic bishops here in America are pushing to allow priests to deny the President communion over his support for abortion rights.”

Weekend White House correspondent Maryalice Parks joined Harris in celebrating Biden’s trip to church and boosted the nonsense claim that he was a devout Catholic. “The President made clear he's not planning to change his routine in the face of this debate among American Catholic bishops,” she cheered.

She even gushed about images of Biden walking into his hometown church. “We saw him going to mass yesterday like he does almost every week in his hometown parish of St. Joseph's. There in Wilmington, you see him,” she beamed.

Parks then championed a letter from 60 Catholic Democrats who attacked the bishops for daring to hold Biden accountable by denying him Holy Communion:

This weekend we've seen swift reactions, especially among Democrats coming to the President’s defense. 60 Catholic Democratic members of Congress writing a letter defending the President, urging bishops not to go down this road. California Congressman Ted Lieu – he took to Twitter and he called the bishops hypocrites. He pointed to Catholic Republicans who publicly support the death penalty for example. And he said why are they not being signaled out?

“So, big picture Dan, a lot of finger-pointing and accusations about whether all of this is just steeped in partisan politics,” Parks added.

Note how Parks held up Congressman Lieu as the shining example of a Catholic Democrat for his tweets. But in his own tweets, he proved that he didn’t abide by the doctrine he claimed to follow. In one tweet where he proclaimed “I’m Catholic,” he rattled off a litany of stuff he supported that went against the doctrine, including abortion and gay marriage.

“Here are sixty Catholics who are not Christians,” Catholic radio host Erick Erickson remarked on the letter. And after Lieu lashed out at him by accusing him of engaging in “cancel culture,” Erickson shot back by noting the fact, “it is not cancel culture to note Catholics who call themselves Catholic while rejecting settled two thousand year old doctrine might not be committed to their faith.”

ABC’s assailing of Catholic Bishops was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from CarMax and GEICO, who got a special shout-out when they went to commercial. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

DAN HARRIS: Let's talk politics now. Joe Biden went to church this weekend amidst news that Catholic bishops here in America are pushing to allow priests to deny the President communion over his support for abortion rights. ABC’s Maryalice Parks, right there at the White House, with much more on the backlash we're seeing from Catholic Democrats. Maryalice, good morning.

MARYALICE PARKS: Good morning, Dan. That's right. The President made clear he's not planning to change his routine in the face of this debate among American Catholic bishops. We saw him going to mass yesterday like he does almost every week in his hometown parish of St. Joseph's. There in Wilmington, you see him.
