A week ago, the Albany Times-Union broke a massive story exposing how New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) diverted state resources to prioritize COVID tests for his family last spring. But when CNN Prime Time host Chris “Fredo” Cuomo got back in the studio Monday, after being suspiciously on vacation last week, he refused to address his role in the scandal or any part of it. Instead, he decided to preach and lecture about how the country needed to “live the right way, with masks,” which he flouts.
But moments before his show began, The Washington Post put the Cuomo family COVID testing scandal back in the headlines by reporting how state health officials were ordered to prioritize the Cuomos.
Fredo kicked off his show by trying to draw comparisons between the Easter, Holy Week, Passover, and the pandemic. “This is the season of rebirth and renewal. Christians enter Easter. Right? Christ’s death and resurrection. Jews celebrate the angel of death passing over homes of true believers. The message could not be more resonant,” he proclaimed.
From there, the self-righteous Cuomo secularly (and bizarrely) complained about how there was a “lack of faith in the facts” (not God), and how we needed to live by the Pledge of Allegiance (Click “expand”):
Because, look, no matter what you choose it to be, we must all believe in something bigger than ourselves. For the religious, you know, like the ones I mentioned, it's God. But for all of us, religious, secular, whatever, there is still a call to something bigger. It is the Pledge of Allegiance to the collective, one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. That pledge needs to be reaffirmed right now.
We are in a bad spot. We are mired in a time of a plague-like pandemic, and we are mired largely because of us and a collective lack of faith in the facts and the lack of faith to that pledge of allegiance.
“Too many refuse to live the right way, with masks and with restraint, to hold back the variants. As a result, all of us are suffering,” he preached. “We need to live right. Otherwise, the variants are going to make people sick, hospitalized sick, dead from being sick. How many before we can get people vaccinated?”
It was a showcase of Fredo’s hypocrisy in action. In reality, he had been repeatedly caught flouting New York’s mask mandates in his condo building and at restaurants. He had even expressed the sick urge to “punch” and “choke” his critics who called him out on it.

And a top state physician whose pandemic portfolio involved coordinating testing in nursing homes was dispatched multiple times to the Hamptons home of CNN host Chris Cuomo, the governor’s brother, in testing visits that sometimes stretched hours, according to two people with knowledge of the consultations.
It’s likely Chris was hiding behind CNN’s conveniently reinstated ban on him talking about his brother’s COVID and sexual harassment scandals. But the difference this time was the fact Chris was directly implicated in the story. But clearly, CNN and Chris were not interested in accountability and transparency.
