Just as New York Democratic Governor Andrew “Luv Gov” Cuomo was being called out by state Democratic lawmakers for obstructing justice and the stage was being set for his impeachment, CNN executives reinstated a ban on the lesser Cuomo, Prime Time host Chris “Fredo” Cuomo, prohibiting him from interviewing or covering his big brother.
According to the New York Post (which has been on the forefront of exposing Andrew’s cover-up of nursing home deaths), “CNN claimed Wednesday that it has reinstated a ‘rule’ that prevents Chris Cuomo from ‘interviewing or covering his brother’ — after the host completely ignored the nursing home death cover-up scandal engulfing Gov. Andrew Cuomo.”
The ban followed a spring and summer that saw CNN break the bonds of journalist ethics as they allowed Chris to give Andrew another resistance-free platform to treat him like the liberal media’s golden COVID cafe. This adulation helped to inflate Andrew’s ego enough to convince him to publish a book about his own leadership as the pandemic was still going on.
And while nursing home residents were fighting for their lives, with 15,000 losing their fight (the number Andrew tried to hide from the Department of Justice), Chris had his brother on his show to mock how big his nose was with a giant cotton swab. Fredo even helped to dismiss the blood on his brother’s hands by letting him brush past the issue back in June.
“Unusual times, right? He's my big brother, I love him, of course, I'm not objective, but let's call it straight. Look at the state,” Chris said at the time to boast about his big brother.
Now, in their statement Wednesday, CNN defended Chris’s early pandemic interviews with the “Luv Gov”:
The early months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time. We felt that Chris speaking with his brother about the challenges of what millions of American families were struggling with was of significant human interest.
As a result, we made an exception to a rule that we have had in place since 2013 which prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule remains in place today. CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively.
“The network didn’t respond to a question asking when Gov. Cuomo was again banned from his brother’s show,” the Post added.
Beyond just giving his brother a platform via his show, Chris’s conflict of interest when covering the pandemic was blatant when he would criticize Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). Back in May, while the Cuomo administration was under-reporting nursing home deaths, Chris smeared the Sunshine State by pushing an unfounded conspiracy theory that they were the ones covering up deaths. It was a false claim he repeatedly went back to throughout the year.
And once the vaccines started rolling out in December, Chris was irate that elderly-rich Florida was getting more vaccine doses than his brother’s state (click “expand”):
Context, I know this guy named Cuomo up in New York. He said about 10,000 doses were administered yesterday. That leaves him just as exposed, given the scale of need, as he was without the vaccine, relatively. Every bit counts of course, but New York needs so much more and a lot faster or the curve of cases is going to go up longer and include more of the people that we need on the front lines. Time equals death here.
Governor DeSantis in Florida said they sent about 100,000 to five hospitals. But there's a delay as shipments for the next two weeks are, quote, “on hold right now.” Two issues. One, why did they get so many more than New York, is it true, that they did? Because the numbers seem to suggest it. Is that the answer?
Of course, the timing of the ban was obviously suspect, especially since it came right as evidence of Andrew’s corruption was blowing up in the liberal media’s face.
