When Republican-controlled statehouses were passing a wave pro-life laws around the country in 2019, the liberal broadcast networks looked on in horror and bashed the bills. On Monday, after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Trump administration’s Protect Life Rule, the networks were nowhere to be seen. Instead, CBS Evening News reported on a study about smart speakers, ABC’s World News Tonight covered the weather, and NBC Nightly News complained about an Amazon series.
Filling in on Special Report for Bret Baier, Fox News @ Night host Shannon Bream did what the networks refused to do and give airtime to the pro-life victory:
Federal appeals court has upheld the Trump administration changes that ban taxpayer-funded clinics in the Title X program from providing or referring for abortions. The ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned decisions issued by judges in Washington, Oregon, and California. The court had already allowed the administration’s changes to begin taking effect while the government had appealed those rulings.
“Dubbed The Protect Life Rule, it requires that abortion businesses separate their abortion services from their family planning/birth control services both physically and fiscally in order to qualify for Title X family planning federal funding,” explained Live Action, a pro-life advocacy group.
Readers might be keen on the fact that the Ninth Circuit has the not-so illustrious nickname of the “Nutty Ninth” due to their far-left leaning. So, how could that Appeals Court put out a 7-4 pro-life decision?
Well, a FoxNews.com report on the decision noted that “President Trump appointees have started to tilt the balance.”
“A federal appeals court on Monday upheld Trump administration rules withdrawing Title X funding from any medical facilities that provide abortions,” the report added. “The court cited similar rules adopted by the Reagan administration that had been approved by the Supreme Court.”
Previously, the parent companies of each of the networks toyed with the idea of joining a Hollywood boycott of Georgia after they passed a pro-life law banning abortions. CBS and NBC actually boasted about it. The trio also praised “abortion rights activists” for protesting the laws.
