Nets Skip Joe Biden Being Denied Communion for Abortion Views

While trying to receive holy communion at South Carolina’s St. Anthony Catholic Church, former Vice President and 2020 hopeful Joe Biden was denied by the priest, citing Biden’s support for abortion. The liberal media were once floored by Biden’s support for the Hyde Amendment but welcomed his buckle to political pressure and their radical demands. So, it’s no wonder ABC, CBS, and NBC ignored the religious rebuke of Biden on their morning and evening newscasts.

During Tuesday evening’s Special Report on Fox News Channel, correspondent Peter Doocy noted the incident in his report on the state of the Democratic primary.

“Biden’s got other problems too. He tried to take holy communion at St. Anthony Catholic Church in South Carolina this weekend and Reverend Robert E. Morey said no, explaining, ‘Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching. I will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers,’” Doocy said.

Doocy also recalled a similar incident with former Secretary of State John Kerry: “John Kerry was warned not to take communion for the same reason in ’04 and because of Biden’s support for abortion rights, he’s been hearing the same warning from some Church leaders since becoming Barack Obama’s running mate ’08.”

Interestingly, the Fox News report showed evidence for why there should have been a mention of the communion denial on NBC Nightly News that week. Doocy played a clip of a phone interview Biden did with NBC chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell on her eponymous MSNBC afternoon show:

ANDREA MITCHELL: There was a report that you were refused communion at a Church service for your stance on abortion rights. Is there any truth to that, did that happen?

JOE BIDEN: I’m not going to discuss that. That, that’s just my personal life and I’m not going to get into that at all.

It was just a few months ago that NBC was floored with Biden’s former support for the Hyde Amendment.

“But now he's coming under fire from other Democrats amid revelations he still supports a controversial abortion law: The Hyde Amendment, which bans using federal funds for abortion services except in cases of rape, insist, or to save the life of the mother,” White House correspondent Kristen Welker reported back in June.

A couple of days later, Welker touted Biden buckling to political pressure: “A devout Catholic, Biden has long wrestled with his views on abortion. But now stressing the need to protect abortion rights amid what he characterized as a Republican onslaught.”

For the liberal media, they couldn’t care less what religious folks think of Biden’s support for abortion. To them, the only controversial position one could hold on the issue was the desire to protect the life of the unborn.

DOOCY: So Biden is dealing with new questions about his religion as Warren is dealing with old questions about her ancestry.
