In the latest intelligent iteration of the NewsBusters Podcast, executive editor Tim Graham takes on MSNBC prima donna Joe Scarborough and his remarks as he touted his new book on Harry Truman on a podcast called The Realignment. The host was gently provoked into defending the many times Joe and Mika hosted Trump in the Republican primary cycle in 2015 and 2016.
“Do I wish we didn’t have him on 30, 40 times? You know what, if I were running Germany today from 1932 to 1934, yeah, I wouldn’t want Hitler to be on 35 times,” Scarborough told hosts Saagar Enjeti and Marshall Kosloff. “Looking back…I wish it hadn’t happened.”
The MSNBC star said he and his wife Mika agree on everything now: "Donald Trump, past four years, we've agreed on just about everything. The world's coming to an end. Locusts are descending from the heavens. They're going to eat the flesh off of our bodies."
Later, Scarborough announced he wanted the Republican Party to be killed off:
I hope this Republican party has no future. I hope it's destroyed.
Donald Trump is a racist. He's a bigot, he's a fascist and my Republican friends, and I can still call them friends. I can have friends that I disagree with politically, but my Republican friends that I used to work with have remained silent through the racism, through the fascism, through the breaching of constitutional norms.
I hope they go the way the Whig party. And I, I don't think they deserve anything more than a complete and total collapse.....I want the party to die.
MRC deputy research director Geoffrey Dickens joined Tim to discuss the latest over-the-top adulation of the Biden cabinet picks, like PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor relaying that they are somehow like the Avengers, a team of globe-saving superheroes. They are also praised as the return of the "adults in the room." And they are somehow completely non-political, as if anyone should believe that for a hot minute. Dickens suggests Scarborough is the embodiment of the political "Swamp."
