On Wednesday's GMA, ABC finally covered the latest development on Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal. Paula Faris gave a 23-second news brief noting that "the Justice Department now says that up to 30 deleted e-mails from her private server could be related to the Benghazi attack." Almost an hour earlier, CBS This Morning mentioned the new revelation on the Clinton scandal during the lead-in for a report on the former senator's lack of press conferences. NBC continued its blackout on the story from the previous evening. Instead, Today devoted over a minute to Tom Brady's new haircut. [video below]
On CBS, fill-in anchor DeMarco Morgan summarized the new e-mail revelation just before correspondent Nancy Cordes's report:
DEMARCO MORGAN: Sources tell CBS News the FBI will soon release notes from his investigation from Clinton's e-mail server. Clinton finished a coast to coast fund-raising tour last night. The State Department says her latest e-mails handed over by the FBI include approximately 30 documents that may be related to the Benghazi Libya attack that killed four Americans.
ABC's Paula Faris included the political affiliation of the organization pursuing the release of the e-mails in her news brief on Good Morning America:
PAULA FARIS: And there are new questions about Hillary Clinton's e-mails. The Justice Department now says that up to 30 deleted e-mails from her private server could be related to the Benghazi attack. They are among thousands recovered during the FBI investigation. They're being sought by a conservative legal group. The State Department says that it needs a month to review the e-mails for potentially-classified information before making them public.
The Big Three networks' evening newscasts on Tuesday all ignored the discovery of the new Clinton e-mails. Fox News's Catherine Herridge gave a short report on the breaking news on Special Report: "Hillary Clinton has said consistently that she turned over all her government e-mails. But tonight, the State Department is confirming about 30 records, that may be related to the 2012 terrorist attack, are among the thousands recovered by the FBI from Clinton's server."
