Joe Scarborough has degenerated from hard-core conservative member of Newt's 1994 revolution into shameless Democrat sycophant.
Scarborough's obsequious new persona was on full display on today's Morning Joe. Reporting from Ireland on Pres. Biden's trip there, Scarborough's spiel was one long gush. It sounded so servile that even paid Biden flack Karine Jean-Pierre might have balked at reading it from her binder.
Scarborough summarily dismissed Biden's gasp-worthy gaffe, in which he confused the New Zealand rugby team with the the Black and Tans, which the New York Post describes as " the nickname for members of the notoriously brutal Royal Irish Constabulary, who were enlisted by the British to fight against Irish Republicans and committed atrocities against civilians during the Irish War of Independence."
Instead, Scarborough gave a relentlessly upbeat take on Biden's trip, displaying a number of positive newspaper headlines, including the 'Biden Joy' one seen in the screencap. Biden received "a joyous welcome to Parliament yesterday. And in fact, the front page story here, it said Biden's happiness and enthusiasm was so infectious because it was obviously so sincere."
And Joe Biden has had headlines like this [holds up another newspaper front page] since he first got here: "Biden Joy."
At one point, Scarborough quoted Biden as saying:
"When you're here, you wonder why anyone would ever want to leave."
If only! May your ears hear the words of your mouth, Mr. President!
Joe Scarborough's gushing report on Pres. Biden's Ireland trip was sponsored in part by Sleep Number, Kayak, and GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Trelegy.

Morning Joe

6:02 am EDTJOE SCARBOROUGH: I'm telling you, it's been such a joyful, joyful trip for Joe Biden and for the people of Ireland. And you can see that in the headlines.
I know, back in the States, a lot of people focusing on a few gaffes. They're not focusing on that in Ireland. You see here [displays front page of The Irish Times,] "A very Irish welcome for President Biden."
Just had a, a joyous welcome to Parliament yesterday. And in fact, the front page story here, it said Biden's happiness and enthusiasm was so infectious because it was obviously so sincere.
And Joe Biden has had headlines like this [holds up another newspaper front page] since he first got here: "Biden Joy."
That, that, it's been, again, a, it's been, it's been a moment that Joe Biden has enjoyed immensely. People in the White House have been saying for some time that this trip is actually a trip he's looked forward to the most since getting into the White House.
And he appears very, very comfortable here in Ireland. And the people of Ireland also very comfortable.
As Matt Viser and Tyler Pager wrote in the Washington Post late last night:
"Biden may have been born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, have spent a half-century in Washington and own two houses in Delaware, but this week, Ireland sounded like his true native land.
“It feels wonderful. It feels like home.
“When you’re here, you wonder why anyone would ever want to leave. No, I mean it.”
And as we just heard, Biden also told Parliament:
"I'm at the end of my career, not the beginning," as he was growing reflective. "the only thing I bring to this career at my age, as you all can see how old I am, it's a little bit of wisdom. I come to the come with more experience than any president in American history. That doesn't make me better or worse. But it gives me few excuses."
