On her MSNBC show on Saturday morning, Tiffany Cross was worried. Very worried. Worried that when voters go to the polls in November, instead of focusing — as they should! — on the January 6 hearings, they will be thinking about trivial things like inflation running at a 40-year high, as gas prices hit about $5/gallon around the country.
She said "when you are dealing with high prices on everything from gas, to food, to rent, and that's the only thing you are hearing about in the media sometimes. Come this November, will voters be more concerned with saving money than saving democracy?"
Cross brought on MSNBC analyst and Democrat pollster Fernand Amandi, who warned Americans that they "better" remember January 6th, calling it nothing less than the most important story in the history of the republic! Hyperbole much?
Breaking out a lame and incoherent scare tactic, Amandi claimed that as bad as inflation and gas prices are now:
"Wait till you see what it's like in a totalitarian, fascist, authoritarian government. Because you ain't seen nothing yet. And I say that as someone who comes from a Cuban family, who—go to Cuba now. Ask me about gas prices and the economy there. Go to Venezuela. Go to Russia."
Huh? So if those "fascist" Republicans take over, they'll install a communist government, like in Cuba? Um, last time we checked, the Castro admirers, self-proclaimed socialists, and guys who honeymooned in the Soviet Union, were exclusively to be found in the Democrat party!
Remind us, where were gas prices back when that fascist, totalitarian Donald Trump was in office? Fernand: throw us in that $2-a-gallon briar patch—we're begging you!
Amandi predictably blamed this spike in gas prices entirely on Putin. In doing so, he conveniently ignored the multitude of regulations by Biden and the Dems pushing energy prices higher, with everything from shutting down pipelines, restricting drilling on federal lands, limiting leases, and even declaring a "war on coal."
Then Amandi underlined the kind of pressure Attorney General Merrick Garland is facing from the Left to indict Donald Trump and his co-conspirators before the midterms -- so the voters can pick the right party, naturally:
I hold Merrick Garland, the Attorney General, and the Justice Department, responsible. If they do not bring these indictments on what is crystal-clear, smoking-gun evidence, it will be an act of dereliction of duty by the Attorney General, before the midterms, so that the voters can see that not only is this real, this has criminal accountability, and they can make that judgment and decision when they go vote in November.
And in a bit of unintentional humor, Cross blamed the media. She said that, rather than focusing on January 6th, inflation "is the only thing you are hearing about in the media sometimes." What? The only thing you're hearing about in the media is inflation? Hello? When the J6 hearings have been given wall-to-wall live coverage on multiple networks, including Cross's own MSNBC?
On Tiffany Cross's MSNBC show, MSNBC analyst Fernand Amandi warning that if people think gas prices are bad now, wait until the "totalitarian, fascist" Republicans take over, was sponsored in part by Progressive and Chase.

10:16 am EDTTIFFANY CROSS: You would think that the compelling testimonies and evidence from the January 6th hearings, showing that Trump almost got his Vice-president killed, would sway these quote on quote undecided voters. I don't know that those folks actually exist.
But, when you are dealing with high prices on everything from gas, to food, to rent, and that's the only thing you are hearing about in the media sometimes. Come this November, will voters be more concerned with saving money than saving democracy? I certainly hope that's not the only choice
. . .
Fernand, I'll start with. Will voters remember what we are hearing from the January 6th? Because you know, I just feel like attention span of our fellow American people, including my own, it's brief sometimes. And so you forget by the time you go into that ballot box. What are your thoughts here?
FERNAND AMANDI: Tiffany, they better remember. Quite simply because this is the most important story in the history of the republic. Now I know that that sounds like a big statement, but we've never experienced what we're seeing right now, which is clear-cut evidence that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his political party, the Republican party, attempted to end the democracy and stage a coup to overthrow the government.
. . .
CROSS: This constant storyline of inflation, and people are feeling it at the grocery store. So it is challenging when, come November, when it's time to cast a ballot. I just wonder if people understand how serious this is. The people watching this program right now are obviously into politics, and follow things, but it's our family members, our friends, our cousins, the distant people who might not wake up reading a papers every morning, how are those folks gonna show up and show out this November?
. . .
AMANDI: Look, I'm also upset about rising gas prices. I'm also upset about prices rising. But I also know that it's Vladimir Putin's fault that gas prices are rising, and the supply chain issues that continue to bedevil around the pandemic as we get back to normal, are impacting that.
But the fundamental truth is, Tiffany, if you think the economy is tight now. If you think prices are a problem now. If you think gas is a problem now, wait till you see what it's like in a totalitarian, fascist, authoritarian government. Because you ain't seen nothing yet.
CROSS: Right.
AMANDI: And I say that as someone who comes from a Cuban family, who—go to Cuba now. Ask me about gas prices and the economy there. Go to Venezuela. Go to Russia.
CROSS: Yeah.
AMANDI: It's a really different situation. But until those issues are put forth, Tiffany, to the American people, and are explained and contextualized, they're not gonna understand. And that's why I hold Merrick Garland, the Attorney General, and the Justice Department, responsible. If they do not bring these indictments on what is crystal-clear, smoking-gun evidence, it will be an act of dereliction of duty by the Attorney General, before the midterms, so that the voters can see that not only is this real, this has criminal accountability, and they can make that judgment and decision when they go vote in November.
