MSNBC's Tiffany Cross: I'm a 'Bigger Patriot' Than 'Half-Witted' Tucker and Ted Cruz

January 9th, 2022 9:04 AM

On her MSNBC show on Saturday, Tiffany Cross claimed that—"despite everything this country has done to people who look like you and me"—she and MSNBC contributor Malcolm Nance are "bigger patriots" than Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz, whom she described as "half-witted."

After running a clip of Cruz apologizing for calling the Capitol riot a "terrorist" attack, Cross complained:

CROSS: Honestly, Malcolm, this is a cult. After everything this country has done to folks that look like you and me, here we sit, bigger patriots than those two half-witted individuals with their feigned outrage and lies to the American people. How does this persist?

MALCOLM NANCE: Well, it's going to persist so long as they have the ability to inject the poison of the cultism through the veins of the news media. This is a clear and present danger.

That sounds an awful lot like a call for censoring the voices of Nance and Cross's political opponents. Liberals used to say that "dissent is patriotic." Now, being a "bigger patriot" apparently consists of silencing conservative media.

Tiffany Cross Malcolm Nance MSNBC The Cross Connection 1-8-22As someone who, for my sins, watches Cross's show every weekend, I can attest that it is one—very long—kvetch against America. Big patriot? In fact, Cross is a big fan of Critical Race Theory and Nikole Hannah-Jones' 1619 Project, which cast racism at the heart of America's founding and current character.

As Cross put it back in July, when she had Hannah-Jones as an honored guest on her show, "the truth about America" is that "racism is so entrenched in every aspect of our lives."

And both she and Nance have so little faith in our system that they claim that Republican victories in 2022 would threaten the very survival of democracy in America.

NANCE: They are loyal to a man, not to the nation. And so long as they believe that Donald Trump is the embodiment of America and the America they want, there are already, we've seen, many incidents over the last few years, where they will kill to make that point!

Right now, they're simmering. And the only question is, will we be able to stop them, or will we be able allow them, come this November if we lose the 2022 election, allow their political body to radicalize them further and bring this nation to dictatorship?

With patriots like these, who needs America haters?

As for Cross's slur of Carlson and Cruz as "half-witted," here's an idea: let's contact Jeopardy and arrange a team event pitting Big Patriots vs. Half-Wits. Who you got?

MSNBC's Tiffany Cross claiming she and Malcolm Nance are "bigger patriots" than Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz, who she described as "half-witted," was sponsored in part by Downy, Publishers Clearing House, and Noom.

Here's the transcript.

TIFFANY CROSS: Joining me now is Malcolm Nance, he's the author of the forthcoming book, "They Want to Kill Americans: The Militias, Terrorists and Deranged Ideology of the Trump Insurgency."

TED CRUZ [at Senate hearing]: We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week, and it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage.

CRUZ [on Tucker Carlson show]: The way I phrased things yesterday, it was sloppy and it was frankly dumb.

TUCKER CARLSON: I don't buy that: whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah! I don't buy that! Look, I've known you a long time, since before you went to the Senate. You were a Supreme Court contender, you take words as seriously as any man who's ever served in the Senate. And every word: you repeated that phrase. I do not believe that you used that accidentally, I just don't.

CRUZ: So Tucker, as a result of my sloppy phrasing, it's caused a lot of people to misunderstand what I meant.

They do not believe in the Constitution as it was written. They have some bizarre misimpression of whatever Donald Trump seems to think it is. They are loyal to a man, not to the nation.
