CBS Swoons Over ‘Sunny’ Seth Meyers: ‘Tom Hanks of Talk Show Hosts’

June 22nd, 2021 10:51 AM

On CBS Sunday Morning, NBC’s notoriously angry leftist Late Night host Seth Meyers was treated to a sycophantic profile in which correspondent Rita Braver marveled at his “sunny personality” and touted laughable claims that he was “the Tom Hanks of talk show hosts.” Braver went on to briefly note that “Meyers is not always nice,” before highlighting his attacks on Donald Trump.

“Meyers is the kind of guy who’ll urge a visitor to try out his desk,” Braver gushed as he allowed her to sit in his chair as they chatted in his studio. She proclaimed: “In contrast to some other talk show hosts, Meyers’s sunny personality is legendary.” Turning to Meyers, Braver fawned: Variety called you the Tom Hanks of talk show hosts. Which is pretty nice. I mean, do you have a secret dark side that we’re not seeing?”

In reply, Meyers joked: “I do not have a secret dark side....Do you want to hear something that you won’t believe? The secret side of me is even nicer than this.” Braver followed up:

In fact, it is. I read a story saying that when NBC stopped paying some of your people that work on your show for a while, that you stepped up and paid them out of your own pocket during the COVID shutdown?...I’ll just say, that was really nice.

The reporter then admitted: “But Meyers is not always nice. His humor is often political....A favorite target for years, Donald Trump.”

However, his history of nastiness goes well beyond trashing Trump:

After playing clips of Meyers ripping Trump, Braver wondered: “Is the Biden administration funny yet?” Meyers equivocated that “Joe Biden as an idea is funny,” before making a lame joke about one of the White House pets: “I feel very deeply for the people that Major has bit, but it is very in line with Joe Biden that he brought a dog into the White House that clearly is not meant to be there.”

Wrapping up the gooey segment, Braver cheered: “NBC has just extended Seth Meyers’s contract until 2025....So he’ll have plenty of time to add to his photo collection.” As she said that, her and Meyers admired a picture in the halls of 30 Rock of the Late Night host posing with Joe and Jill Biden.

No matter how vile and far-left late night “comedians” are, the liberal media pretend they’re like Mr. Rogers.

RITA BRAVER: [Seth] Meyers is the kind of guy who’ll urge a visitor to try out his desk.

SETH MEYERS: Well, do you want to sit here? Get the full vibe, come on.

BRAVER: No, no, no, no. I’m good.

MEYERS: No, come on, look, when are you going to have this chance. Not until it goes in the Smithsonian.

BRAVER: This is great! Well, Seth, do you have anything that you’re promoting that we ought to be talking about right now?

MEYER: I did, I brought a clip.

BRAVER: In contrast to some other talk show hosts, Meyers’s sunny personality is legendary. Variety called you the Tom Hanks of talk show hosts. Which is pretty nice. I mean, do you have a secret dark side that we’re not seeing?

MEYERS: I do not have a secret dark side.

BRAVER: This is it?

MEYERS: Yeah. Do you want to hear something that you won’t believe? The secret side of me is even nicer than this. [Laughter]

BRAVER: In fact, it is. I read a story saying that when NBC stopped paying some of your people that work on your show for a while, that you stepped up and paid them out of your own pocket during the COVID shutdown?

MEYERS: Yeah, that’s a personal thing between me and my crew.

BRAVER: I’ll just say, that was really nice.

But Meyers is not always nice. His humor is often political.

MEYERS: Only Donald Trump could make himself feel better by implying that he has a nicer house than Osama Bin Laden.

BRAVER: A favorite target for years, Donald Trump.

MEYERS: He only has two emotions, boredom and rage. He’s either staring off into the distance while someone talks about complex policy details or hissing at reporters like a snake whose nest was just disturbed.

BRAVER: I think it’s to say that you are not a fan boy.

MEYERS: I think that is probably the most accurate way to say it. I don’t have any of his merch. Not one piece of merch, even after all this time.

BRAVER: Is the Biden administration funny yet?

MEYERS: I think Joe Biden as an idea is funny. I feel very deeply for the people that Major has bit, but it is very in line with Joe Biden that he brought a dog into the White House that clearly is not meant to be there.

BRAVER: NBC has just extended Seth Meyers’s contract until 2025.

Was this post or pre-election?

So he’ll have plenty of time to add to his photo collection. [Picture of Meyers with Joe and Jill Biden]

It must make you feel good every day when you walk by this and think, “I did all of those shows.”

MEYERS: Yes. It’s mostly I feel good to think I have this show and I get to do more of them. It makes me happy to think we’ll keep taking pictures.

BRAVER: And it’s going to keep going.

MEYERS: And ultimately we’ll ask the network for a longer hallway so we can hang more of them.
