ABC Hails Biden as ‘Grown-Up in the Race,’ Nets Slam Trump Rally

October 13th, 2020 1:06 PM

As all three network morning shows on Tuesday slammed President Trump returning to the campaign trail after recovering from coronavirus, ABC’s Good Morning America was particularly enamored with attacks hurled by Democratic nominee Joe Biden, which the partisan broadcast cheered as the “grown-up in the race.”

“Overnight, President Trump back on the campaign trail, mask-free in the battleground state of Florida in front of a jam-packed, mostly mask-free, crowd,” GMA co-host and Democratic hack George Stephanopoulos scolded at the top of the program. He then seized on the former Vice President’s talking points: “Joe Biden campaigning in Ohio with his socially distanced supporters in their cars, calling the President’s behavior reckless.”

In the report that followed minutes later, correspondent Cecilia Vega eagerly contrasted Trump and Biden campaign events:

The President was not wearing a mask and neither were most of the supporters at that rally, even though several states are now seeing records for their highest daily coronavirus cases. But President Trump, he’s now using his recovery as part of his re-election pitch....In the battleground of Ohio, an entirely different scene, Joe Biden’s supporters socially distant in their cars, honking their horns instead of applause.

She then happily proclaimed: “Biden painting himself as the grown-up in the race, calling the President’s behavior since contracting COVID unconscionable.” A soundbite ran of Biden ranting: “The longer Donald Trump is president, the more reckless he seems to get.”

The shameless plug for Biden on ABC wasn’t the only network cheerleading for the Democratic nominee. On NBC’s Today show, correspondent Peter Alexander adhered to the DNC narrative:

President Trump back on the trail in Florida, enthusiastic and emboldened. Eleven days after testing positive for the coronavirus, claiming without evidence he’s now immune....Joe Biden, at a drive-in rally with auto workers in Ohio, taking the President to task over his behavior.

On CBS This Morning, correspondent Ben Tracy, who recently claimed the White House was more dangerous than North Korea, touted: “Former Vice President Joe Biden campaigned in Ohio Monday, talking to union workers who remained socially distanced in their car. He said President Trump was irresponsible in how he handled his own coronavirus infection.”

The networks are so blatantly rooting for Biden at this point that shameless reporters have no problem making juvenile assertions about the Democratic presidential candidate being the “grown-up in the race.”

ABC’s pro-Biden campaign ad was brought to viewers by Toyota and Xfinity. You can fight back by letting these advertisers know what you think of them sponsoring such content.

Here is a transcript of the October 13 coverage on ABC’s GMA:
