Michael Moore to Libs: Win Over Your Selfish Conservative Uncle by Promising Free Stuff

November 29th, 2019 8:00 AM

This could only happen on MSNBC. Wednesday night, lefty documentary filmmaker Michael Moore came on The Last Word to share his advice on how liberals can change the hearts and minds of their “bigoted” Republican family members. His winning strategy? Convince them why big government is your friend, not your enemy!

Fill in host Steve Kornacki first prompted Moore to explain how families could get along this holiday. “It's not that hard to get along, is it?” he wondered.

Moore, immediately started calling conservatives, confrontational “racist bigots,” before advising how his fellow liberals could win over these deplorables. (Hmm, I don’t know, seems like not calling people names would be a great start).

So what was his great advice? Sell these selfish ingrates on how “you” are going to put their teen through college, pay for their kids’ daycare and pay off their medical bills…oh wait, I mean, how the taxpayers are going to do that:

One thing that's happened this year a lot of people have mentioned this to me is that they've not invited the people who have been starting fights the last two years. And so especially families are not inviting the family bigot. They don't want racism uttered at the Thanksgiving day table especially with children at the table, so they're just having --they've had brothers or uncles or whatever I'm sorry but there's been now three years of this, '16, '17, and '18 where we've had to listen to this and the kids aren't going to be listening to the misogyny and things like that. So I think that's going to help with some dinner table tomorrow.

I'd like to suggest to some liberals, lefties, Democrats who are watching that there is a way to reach across the Turkey...For tomorrow I would just say to your conservative brother-in-law:

If we win, if we're in the White House here's what we're going to do for you: If you get sick and you're in the hospital, you're not going to have pay that hospital bill. You're not going to go bankrupt like half a million people did last year because of health care bills. Here’s another thing I’m going to do for you. I'm going to put your kids through college. Not me personally but me and the 330 million fellow citizens, we're all going to chip in so that your kid can get a college education and not be in a debter’s prison. That’s what I’m going to do for you. And if we have small kids, I'm going to pay for your baby-sitter. Not me personally but my 330 million fellow Americans...

Notice the repeated, “not me, but” the taxpayers will do that for you? What a generous offer!

Apparently Moore thinks Trump voters just aren’t seeing the glorious benefits of the socialist government Bernie Sanders is offering.

He ended his spiel by laughably claiming conservatives were just selfish and looking for free stuff so you might as well explain that’s what liberals are offering:

"Tomorrow at dinner in the best possible way just explain to them because unfortunately to a lot of the voters on the other side it is kind of all about them and they're very much about the me, me, me. So make it about them. Just tell them you're going to cover their health care bills, you're going to cover the daycare bills and all of us together we're all going to cover your kids being able to afford college," Moore boasted.

MICHAEL MOORE: One thing that's happened this year a lot of people have mentioned this to me is that they've not invited the people who have been starting fights the last two years.

I'd like to suggest to some liberals, lefties, Democrats who are watching that there is a way to reach across the Turkey and, you know, try to help people -- you're not going to convince them and you should really save your energy for the candidate you support, you should be out there working for that candidate in the nine weeks leading up to Iowa. Whatever you can do, you should help.

But for tomorrow I would just say to your conservative brother-in-law that is been sitting there saying all these things about how much he loves Trump or whatever. I would just say to him, here's the thing though, if you don't like Bernie or Elizabeth or whatever, fine. But I'm going to tell you something, If we win, if we're in the White House here's what we're going to do for you.

If you get sick and you're in the hospital, you're not going to have pay that hospital bill. You're not going to go bankrupt like half a million people did last year because of health care bills. Here’s another thing I’m going to do for you. I'm going to put your kids through college. Not me personally but me and my 330 million fellow citizens, we're all going to chip in so that your kid can get a college education and not be in a debter’s prison. That’s what I’m going to do for you. And if we have small kids, I'm going to pay for your baby-sitter. Not me personally but my 330 million fellow Americans. We're going to see there's real day care and when people have babies they get time off, paid time off. We're going to make your life easier, less stressful. You'll live longer as a result of that.

I'm willing to do all of that for you even though I don't agree with you politically!

That's what I'm willing to do because I'm out there, I'm going to get someone elect today the White House that's going to make this a better country for everybody. Not a country where people are living on pins and needles and living in fear and full of despair, but a but a country of people who -- the way that -- you know, the way that it should be. The richest country in the world, we should be able to cover some basic human needs. Health care, daycare, college, et cetera. We can do that.

So I encourage people who are watching tonight, tomorrow at dinner in the best possible way just explain to them because unfortunately to a lot of the voters on the other side it is kind of all about them and they're very much about the me, me, me. So make it about them. Just tell them you're going to cover their health care bills, you're going to cover the daycare bills and all of us together we're all going to cover your kids being able to afford college. That's our promise.
