After the horrific mass murder of churchgoers in Texas this past Sunday, the media was ready and set to blame guns and gun owners, yet again for the unconscionable violence. But it wasn’t just journalists penning their politically-driven tirades, it was also their paper’s cartoonists too.
Liberal cartoonist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mike Luckovich, actually depicted Islamic terrorists bowing in allegiance to a gun-toting NRA member with blood on his hands, in a cartoon published just three days after that horrific shooting.

Set aside the offensive and petty smear tactic of equating the NRA, a group which millions of Americans belong to, to terrorists. This cartoon is particularly moronic considering that an NRA instructor actually stopped the gunman from committing further violence against churchgoers that day. Oh, and he used a gun.
But it wasn’t just in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution where the obscene cartoon was seen. Politico touted the cartoon in their weekly roundup and tweeted it Friday as well.
This isn’t the first time Luckovich took a tragedy to make a dumb and cruel political point. In August, he blasted Hurricane Harvey’s victims as anti-government rednecks who only wanted government help when it was convenient to them:The nation’s cartoonists on the week in politics https://t.co/UDqwafrl5S pic.twitter.com/PNcBRMMkM7

On his Twitter bio, Luckovich boasts he’s a “Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist” for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.08/30 Mike Luckovich: Pleez hep! https://t.co/ye7yUcRSey pic.twitter.com/rlazALvn28
