On Wednesday evening's Special Report, fill-in anchor John Roberts ran a segment by correspondent David Spunt about the House Republicans' plan to defund President Joe Biden's Disinformation Governance Board which is nothing more than an Orwellian Ministry of Truth.
Roberts kicked off the segment by announcing, "Republicans are trying to stop the administration's controversial Disinformation Governance Board from ever coming into existence, by stripping its funding" and revealed that "an official with the Federal Communications Commission calls the panel Orwellian and unconstitutional."
Spunt gave viewers some background on what the so-called disinformation board is set up to do. Informing Fox viewers that the board was "rolled out by the Department of Homeland Security late last month, the board is supposed to stop misinformation flowing in from China, Russia, and south of the border."
"Critics also have a problem with the board's new director. Nina Jankowicz worked as a disinformation expert at a DC think tank before coming on to lead the group," Spunt noted, adding that her "online presence is vast, with past comments from criticizing the Hunter Biden laptop as a Trump campaign product to videos of her singing about misinformation."
Before handing it back to Roberts, Spunt added that the "Department of Homeland Security has been tracking disinformation for years" and only the disinformation board is new. The head of this board, Nina Jankowicz also put out a statement recently which Spunt read on air: "I would consider working for any administration with a solid respect for the truth and Democratic and human rights -- whether conservative or liberal.”
Nobody believes Nina Jankowicz would work for a Republican President, unless it was a liberal Republican. Even then it's doubtful. She's a rabid leftist partisan. Jankowicz claiming she would work for a Republican is like Rachel Maddow announcing she would be willing to serve as Press Secretary for a Republican President.

6:13:09 p.m. EasternJOHN ROBERTS: Republicans are trying to stop the administration's controversial Disinformation Governance Board from ever coming into existence, by stripping its funding, and an official with the Federal Communications Commission calls the panel Orwellian and unconstitutional. Correspondent David Spunt has got the latest for us tonight from Capitol Hill.
KEVIN MCCARTHY: The President’s ministry of truth is just an un-American abuse of power.
DAVID SPUNT: House Republicans say they have a plan to stop the government’s new disinformation governance board: by defunding it. Rolled out by the Department of Homeland Security late last month, the board is supposed to stop misinformation flowing in from China, Russia, and south of the border. Republicans don't buy it.
REP. MIKE JOHNSON: We don’t allow–we don't trust government bureaucrats–government officials to determine what is true and acceptable speech. That is an anti-American idea!
SPUNT: Critics also have a problem with the board's new director. Nina Jankowicz worked as a disinformation expert at a DC think tank before coming on to lead the group. Her online presence is vast, with past comments from criticizing the Hunter Biden laptop as a Trump campaign product to videos of her singing about misinformation.
Congresswoman Boebert is behind the bill to defund the board. On the House floor last night, she criticized it, and President Biden.
REP. LAUREN BOEBERT: Well, that sounds like the words of a lying dog face pony soldier to me.
SPUNT: Democrats immediately pushed back.
REP. JAMIE RASKIN: We obviously could’ve taken those words down, but we have serious business to do here. We want the whole world to see how the gentlelady from Colorado speaks in public as a member of Congress.
SPUNT: The Department of Homeland Security has been tracking disinformation for years. This board is new, John, and Nina Jankowicz put out a statement recently defending herself to her critics. I want to read it in part, she said. "I would consider working for any administration with a solid respect for the truth and Democratic and human rights -- whether conservative or liberal”, John?
