Sunday Shows Despicably Ignore Report That Clinton Spied on Trump

February 13th, 2022 1:54 PM

On Saturday evening, recently released court papers from Special Counsel John Durham's investigation showed that former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman paid a tech company to infiltrate computer servers at Trump Tower and the White House while Donald Trump was President in order to somehow tie him to Russia.

Despite this bombshell report, none of the Sunday morning talk shows (Face The Nation (CBS), State of the Union (CNN), & This Week (ABC) covered the story, or even mentioned it. NBC’s Meet the Press was preempted by Olympics coverage.

Instead of covering this story, the Sunday shows decided to focus on a different Russia story: what Russian President Vladimir Putin might or might not do in regards to Ukraine, as well as obsessing over the January 6 Capitol Riots that happened over a year ago. Both CBS & CNN had the opportunity to ask Biden Administration National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan about the Durham news but they both failed to consider it.

Fox News’ MediaBuzz anchor Howie Kurtz did discuss it during a segment with Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway. “Other news just breaking really in the last 24 hours, Mollie, Special Counsel John Durham, in an indictment says in court papers that former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman paid a tech company to infiltrate the servers first in Trump Tower, later in the White House he conveyed this to the FBI, and said he asked researchers, and this is a quote from the court papers, to mine internet delta, to establish an inference and narrative tying then-candidate Trump to Russia.”

Kurtz announced before talking about former President Trump’s reaction: “Donald Trump says he was spied upon. This is worse than Watergate in the former President's view and such a crime should be punishable by death. How big a story is this?”

Hemingway said that “it’s not just the President’s view that this is worse than Watergate.” She then reminded viewers that if this report is true:

What we're talking about in these latest court filings confirms so much of what we've already known but takes it much further, the spying operation against Donald Trump wasn't just during the campaign, they were also spying on White House servers, Trump Tower, while he was President. This information was weaponized by powerful government officials including at the Department of Justice. This implicates so many people, the Clinton campaign that funded the operation, received some of this information, weaponized it with the DOJ, the Department of Justice.

She then tore into the media for not reporting on this scandal: “The media who spent years lying and claiming that Donald Trump had stolen the 2016 election by colluding with Russia. Those lies caused so much damage to the country this is so much bigger than Watergate. And yet, other than you mentioning it here, Fox News covered it this weekend and a few other sensible media organizations covering it. It's not even getting any coverage.”

According to analysis of closed captioning from NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham, ABC News, for example, gave the Durham Report a grand total of three mentions in all of 2020.

Compare that to the endless coverage the leftist media gave to the Mueller Report.

This outrageous example of bias by omission was made possible by CarMax on ABC, Nugenix on CBS, and Johnson & Johnson on CNN. Their information is linked.

HOWARD KURTZ: Other news just breaking really in the last 24 hours, Mollie, special counsel John Durham, in an indictment says in court papers that former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman paid a tech company to infiltrate the servers first in Trump Tower, later in the White House he conveyed this to the FBI, and said he asked researchers, and this is a quote from the court papers, to mine internet delta, to establish an inference and narrative tying then candidate Trump to Russia. Donald Trump says he was spied upon. This is worse than Watergate in the former President's view and such a crime should be punishable by death. How big a story is this?

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: Yeah it’s not just the President’s view that this is worse than Watergate. If you want to remember what happened in Watergate, that was a relatively low level break-in to a Democratic Party office and then a cover up from the White House.

The media who spent years lying and claiming that Donald Trump had stolen the 2016 election by colluding with Russia. Those lies caused so much damage to the country this is so much bigger than Watergate. And yet, other than you mentioning it here, Fox News covered it this weekend and a few other sensible media organizations covering it. It's not even getting any coverage. And think of that compared to the daily drip.

KURTZ: And that’s the point.

HEMINGWAY: of crazy Russia stories.
