The cast of Morning Joe descended even deeper into their increasingly concerning case of Trump derangement syndrome Tuesday morning. Joe Scarborough referred to Republicans as “jackasses” while talking about health care. Steve Rattner joined in as he lamented how Trump’s future tax plan “is just for the rich.” Finally, Mika Brzezinski decried the “shiny objects” put into the media cycle by Trump and condemned the President’s “random” and “out-of-control” tweets about Barack Obama.
The hysteria went as follows:
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Let's really talk about what it means to my party, that my party has gotten to this stage where you just see the numbers and they are just devastating. There's no attempt to hide the fact that Donald Trump is breaking every promise he made and that they will have a disproportionate impact hurting older, middle-income Americans.
MIKE BARNICLE: What's the rationale politically or historically for your party to control the White House, the House of Representatives, the United States Senate and they all pull together to say, "hey, let’s take our majority and put it right down the tubes." First time--
SCARBOROUGH: I don’t understand it. What a stupid thing to do.
BARNICLE: First time in a long time that they’ve controlled all three elements.
SCARBOROUGH: Well, and I think yesterday I re-tweeted Allah pundit who said something like watch out fellas the we’re gonna pass anything to get to the tax reform bill plan is going up–The pass the whatever and get to tax reform act of 2017 is in trouble. Because you talk–I’m going to say what they are. You talk to these jackasses behind closed doors and you go what are you doing?! And they go, oh, we got to get to the tax bill so we gotta do this, first. So you’re gonna just say you know what let’s just change one-fifth, one-sixth of the economy so we can get to a tax bill that lowers corporate rates. I mean, you want corporate rates lowered badly, but you screw with one-sixth of the economy?
STEVE RATTNER: Well, but not only that, but the tax bill lowers corporate rates, which will be controversial, but its another huge tax giveaway for the rich. The Trump tax plan is just for the rich. We're going to be having this same conversations in three months about the tax bill and about how unbalanced it
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Look there are shiny objects flying everywhere and I just, personally I think the big picture is you’ve got and this is in no order of importance the cameras being kept out of a briefing room, you have the President tweeting about a former president again, just randomly, and out of control, truly.
RATTNER: And erroneously!
BRZEZINSKI: And you have the threat of military action to the surprise of the intelligence community. I think there’s a bigger picture that people ought to start looking at.
SCARBOROUGH: But I can tell you though the biggest picture though for middle income Americans is that their healthcare insurance is about to be taken away. That is the big issue for Americans.
RATTNER: And incredibly what Trump has done is he's made Obamacare popular. Obamacare is over 50% popular because people now understand the difference. And these bills get like a fifteen percent approval rating.
SCARBOROUGH: Do you know what else he’s done? Do you know who else he's made popular? Dubyah! Have you seen that? Dubyah's approval ratings are up with Barack Obama's now! He's making everybody popular.
As the media continues to climb the mountain of moronity each day in the age of Trump one begins to wonder whether or not it’s summit will ever be reached. Judging from today’s segment, it appears that we will have to continue to wait a little bit longer, but Morning Joe will no doubt be at the front leading the way when it happens.
