We’ve got a new, fun interactive series called Worst Media Take of the Week, where you — our loyal NewsBusters visitors and MRC supporters — get to vote on which leftist journalist or celebrity had the worst media take of the week.
Much appreciation to all who voted last week via NewsBusters and the MRC’s various social media sites (Facebook, Instagram and X.com).
The results of the Worst Media Take of the Week are in and the winner is…
Michael Steele!
The MSNBC host won with 56 percent of the vote. In the wake of the Minneapolis shooting, Steele lectured: “I’m so beyond” the “nonsense” of “thoughts and prayers.” CNN anchor Dana Bash came in second place with 24 percent of the vote. MSNBC host Ali Velshi came in third place with 20 percent.
The following is a montage of all the nominees:
WINNER (56 percent of the vote)
Michael Steele: “I’m So Beyond” the “Nonsense” of “Thoughts and Prayers,” Republicans Won’t Stop “Violence Against Their Own Kids”
“I agree with the mayor [Jacob Frey]. The thoughts and prayers. I’m so beyond, so beyond that. That nonsense, the lie of that. Because what we have are people who continue to stand in the way of actually doing something to stop the violence against their own kids.”
— Host Michael Steele on Minneapolis church shooting on MSNBC’s The Weeknight, August 27.
SECOND PLACE (24 percent of the vote)
Dana Bash: “Forget About Thoughts and Prayers”
“Forget about thoughts and prayers. These kids were literally praying when they were murdered through a church window.”
— Host Dana Bash discussing Minneapolis church shooting on CNN’s Inside Politics, August 27.
THIRD PLACE (20 percent of the vote)
Ali Velshi: Can “America’s Democracy” Withstand “Internal Demolition” Carried Out by Trump?
“America’s democracy has withstood civil war, depressions, attacks by foreign enemies on its soil, but it has never faced an assault on this scale: An internal demolition carried out not by outsiders or even by well-armed rebels, but by the holder of the highest office in the land.”
— Host Ali Velshi on MSNBC’s Velshi, August 24.
Thanks again to all who participated!
