Curtis Houck Shreds Media for ‘Embarrassing’ Cover-Up of Chicago’s ‘Laken Riley 2.0’ with Scott Jennings

On Tuesday’s edition of The Scott Jennings Show, NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck joined host Scott Jennings to expose a familiar and infuriating pattern of media malpractice. Discussing the tragic murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman in Chicago, reportedly at the hands of a Venezuelan illegal alien, Houck noted that the elitist media have effectively scrubbed the most inconvenient facts from the story.

While the details of the case are chilling, the "Big Three" networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) have decided the story doesn’t fit the preferred narrative.

Jennings opened the segment by labeling the tragedy "Laken Riley 2.0," asking Houck how the mainstream press is handling the fallout. The answer, as expected, was a grim tally of intentional silence.

Houck broke down the pathetic timing of the evening news broadcasts:

  • NBC News: A measly 23 seconds.
  • ABC World News Tonight: A single segment totaling 1 minute and 10 seconds.
  • CBS Evening News: The "leader" of the pack, barely cracking 2 minutes.

"You add all those up, it's still well below five minutes," Houck said. "It’s an embarrassing display… the American media are not serving the American people."

The duo also took aim at Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. Jennings pointed out that Pritzker, a frequent name in 2028 presidential chatter, offered only a muted response that carefully avoided the suspect’s immigration status.

Houck highlighted the rank hypocrisy: "JB Pritzker did a video a few months ago... mocking this notion that illegal immigrants are causing crime in our streets... he has an agenda to push, and it’s obviously not on the side of the American people."

Houck concluded that the media’s refusal to cover the "who, what, where, when, and why" is a violation of basic journalism. "This goes beyond simply left and right. This is simply right versus wrong."
