Erin Burnett Now Fears Protecting Elections from Foreign Interference

In Tuesday’s OutFront, Erin Burnett once again dove into her, and the leftwing media’s, obsession with Russia’s apparent collusion in U.S. elections. With the November midterms now just weeks away, Burnett couldn’t resist piling on another claim: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s order to defend this election season from foreign interference was another ploy for Republicans to steal votes.

It’s no secret the liberal media has had it out for Trump ever since he won in 2016. With Clinton’s loss being a hard pill to swallow, the Republican and Russia conspiracy was born. Instead of acting like a regular loser, however, Democrats fed Americans the fantastical narrative that “Russia hacked the election” and literally stole votes for the Republican Party.

Burnett turned her segment into an electoral safeguard hate party when she bashed Hegseth’s order for the military to utilize intelligence and cyber capabilities to defend the election from foreign interference. Before her charade, Burnett admitted to this being “something the military has done in the past,” in which initiatives were rolled out in the past eight years during elections to counter foreign hackers.

Pushing Burnett’s Russia conspiracy theory was frequent CNN guest Ty Cobb. When asked of Hegseth’s “different objective” that “is not a parallel to what's been done before,” the former Trump White House lawyer had some absurd findings.

With Trump’s “hollowed out” cybersecurity and infrastructure security apparatus that “has been gutted,” Cobb put little faith in Hegseth’s ability to carry out such initiatives to combat foreign interference, and inferred that his role could potentially have something to do with voter meddling:

This is not being done, though, as it has historically over our time to facilitate, you know, people being able to vote. This is being done solely so that they can say, we had people on site and we found these very concerning bots or, you know, potential international interference, you know, so that they can declare an emergency and perhaps seize ballots and seize voting machines.

Cobb continued to boil down the preventative cyber operations to Trump’s supposed electoral manipulation tactics:

This is all part of the part and parcel of Trump's assault on elections from the post office, you know, to the cybersecurity infrastructure to the Justice Department's civil rights division, sending a 300 percent increase in poll watchers to the polls who are not there as they have been historically since the 60s, you know, to enable people to be allowed to exercise their vote.

No, they're there with the hope that they can find something that provides a pretext or justification for a declared emergency that can be used to then interfere with the election. So, we're in trouble. We have to be vigilant, and people need to get out and vote in big numbers.

We shouldn’t be surprised that Burnett was once again harping on this issue, especially since she was among the many liberal reporters and networks which insisted “Russia hacked the election.”

“Definitively, Russia hacked the election and Russia is doing it again now,” she once shouted into the camera.

Obviously, the hoax was a direct retaliation of liberals not getting the result they wanted in 2016. We’ll have to wait and see if it happens again this year.

ERIN BURNETT: Secretary Hegseth announced that he's directing the military to utilize intelligence and cyber capabilities to defend the election from foreign interference. Okay. Something the military has done in the past. But when you saw this, you saw something different. That Hegseth has a different objective here. That this is not a parallel to what's been done before.

Can you explain?

TY COBB (FORMER TRUMP WHITE HOUSE LAWYER): Certainly. You know, the cybersecurity and infrastructure security apparatus is one that Trump has hollowed out. I mean, you know, that it's been gutted. Uh, you know, this is the group that, that Hegseth is, you know, allegedly tasking, you know, with the substantial responsibilities.

BURNETT: All right. Ty Cobb, thank you very much. It is always good to see you.
