MSNBC on Sunday proved that, once again, there’s nothing too horrible to say about the American public and millions of law-abiding citizens. On Sunday afternoon’s Alex Witt Reports MSNBC host Alex Witt collaborated with Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) to push for gun control. After indulging in some talking points about "gun safety measures," Witt had no response when the Democrat insanely said this: "Republicans “would rather see our Americans murdered everyday instead of actually trying to come up with a bipartisan compromise.”
Witt initiated the Democratic propaganda by discussing former Republican House Speaker John Boehner’s recent call for bipartisan gun control measures and trashing him for being “one of the key obstacles to getting any gun control measures passed in the wake of Sandy Hook and the shooting of Gabby Giffords among other tragedies.”
This set up Gallego to rant about past Republican efforts to block Democrats from undermining our Second Amendment rights and to claim that “logical” gun control policies “could actually have immediate effect on reducing gun violence”:
Unfortunately, my first year in Congress was also -- was under Speaker Boehner's reign. There was 12 mass shootings that year and there was nothing done. There’s no movement. Not even, you know, logical movement, things that are very well, you know, established across all partisan lines. Universal background checks, red flag laws, those are the types of things that could actually have immediate effect on reducing gun violence.
Witt, who is more interested in being a Democratic activist than an objective journalist, did not point out to Gallego that Connecticut had a red flag law before the Sandy Hook shooting and that research has shown that it is difficult to prove whether universal background checks actually reduce gun violence.
Gallego and Witt then went back and forth, claiming that Republicans do not care about children dying from gun violence because they failed to join in with Democratic attempts to violate the Second Amendment after Sandy Hook:
GALLEGO: 20 toddlers were killed --
WITT: I can't even -- Sandy Hook.
GALLEGO: You know, 20 toddlers were killed and it was still a bill that did not pass, right?
WITT: Yeah, Manchin-Toomey.
This enabled Gallego to go on an unhinged rant where he declared that “Republicans are a broken party,” advocated for Americans electing “more Democrats” and claimed that Republicans don’t care about “Americans” being “murdered everyday”:
The Republican Party is broken. They're never going to pass any gun legislation. We need to either do two things -- elect more Democrats so we can actually pass legislation, which we have at the House. And then we need to make sure that we pass legislation in the Senate. And that's by reforming the filibuster, getting more Democrats in there, and just pushing this through. Republicans are a broken party. They're never going to support gun reform. The fact that we have to have this argument all the time and by the way, again, the media perpetuates this. Like, why don't both sides come together? Like, there is one side that wants to come together and there’s the other side that likes the obstruction and would rather see our Americans murdered everyday instead of actually trying to come up with a bipartisan compromise.
Witt did not push back against any of Gallego’s insane statements but instead praised him for being “sobering.”

To say this now, is this all about publicity around trying to sell a book?
REPRESENTATIVE RUBEN GALLEGO (D-AZ): Certainly, look, everybody's a hero in hindsight. And I think that's what he's trying to -- to -- to, you know, move here. I was looking up the statistics. Unfortunately, my first year in Congress was also -- was under Speaker Boehner's reign. There was 12 mass shootings that year and there was nothing done. There’s no movement. Not even, you know, logical movement, things that are very well, you know, established across all partisan lines. You know, I'm sure at some point when McCarthy leaves as being, you know, leader of the Republican party, he'll also say that, you know, again, every hero -- every hero -- everyone's a hero in hindsight.
WITT: But -- but --
GALLEGO: But in reality he's never seen -- never shown any courage on this issue.
WITT: But -- but Congressman, we can't wait for people to leave and then hope that maybe it's going to get better. How can Congress strike some sort of an effective balance, try to bring both sides of the gun debate and achieve gun safety measures? Not gun takeaway measures. Gun safety measures to prevent more mass shootings.
