Apparently, nothing is sacred at CNN when it comes to making everything in life match their narrative, even Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, host Wolf Blitzer bizarrely ogled over the NORAD Santa tracker showing Santa wearing a mask.
Instead of just wishing his audience some Christmas cheer at the end of his Christmas Eve show, Blitzer decided that he would use the opportunity to drive in the media’s message of the infallibility of masks. Using the NORAD tracker, which is fun for kids because it shows an image of Santa Claus and provides them with updates about where he is on his route, Blitzer excitedly announced that Santa was “taking extra precautions” and wearing a mask:

You see St. Nick and his reindeer; they are making good time as they bring gifts to children in the United States and around the world. Santa knows this isn't a great time to travel but he's taking extra precautions. So this year, check out the mask he's wearing.
While it is no doubt bizarre that NORAD shows Santa wearing a mask, it is even weirder that a “journalist” chose to highlight it with such exhilaration.
Blitzer even further obsessed over the mask by zooming on the animated image of Santa and displaying a chyron which declared “Jolly Old Elf Logging Miles, Wearing a Mask.”
Thank goodness we have such stellar reporting of our news. If it was not for the brave journalism of Wolf Blitzer, no doubt many parents would have stayed up all night worried that a maskless Santa Claus would spread COVID to their family.
However, this important journalism does bring up some pressing questions. Is the mask even effective if Santa removes it to eat milk and cookies? Or, did he skip out on eating his favorite treats this year in case he could cause asymptomatic spread? Furthermore, why does Santa even need a mask? His job is almost the definition of social distancing. Additionally, CNN loved Dr. Fauci saying that he went to the North Pole to vaccinate Santa, so it seems that a mask would not be necessary for him.
A more likely answer to these questions is that CNN is obsessed with driving in its narrative about masks and shaming those who do not comply with it so it even tried to bring Santa in on its side. Maybe next year Santa will be wearing a Joe Biden t-shirt.
