CBS Slobbers Over Conservative-Hating Jordan Klepper, Omits Failed Show

April 17th, 2023 5:40 PM

Monday’s CBS Mornings included yet another act of corporate whoring on behalf of parent company Paramount to slobber nauseating praise over the latest guest-hosted week of Daily Show episodes, which will feature longtime correspondent and failed host of The Opposition, Jordan Klepper. Of the 12 guest-hosts, CBS has engaged in seven of these puke-tastic forays.

That part about having already failed in hosting a show was never mentioned in the two teases and six-minute-and-23-second segment about the man the leftist comedy show has often sent out to compile edited “field” reports depicting conservatives as imbecilic rubes.

Socialist co-host Tony Dokoupil insisted in the first tease that Klepper would “talk” with them “about why he likes to spar with people he disagrees with.” If by “spar” they mean degrade them and find the lowest common denominators, then sure. Otherwise, that’s a pants-on-fire claim.

Co-host, Democratic donor, and Obama family friend Gayle King cozied up to him in the other tease, gushing over him as the man with the “inside track” for the full-time hosting gig.

Dokoupil couldn’t contain his excitement in the set-up and queuing up a snippet of Klepper arguing on April 4 with a Trump supporter outside the New York City courthouse where the former President was arraigned.

After the clip in which the Trump supporter said he didn’t trust the process to be fair, Klepper and the CBS co-hosts proceeded to mock him (and thus Trumpers as rubes) (click “expand”):

DOKOUPIL: We’re very excited about our next guest, it’s comedian Jordan Klepper, the latest guest host of The Daily Show. That’ll be starting tonight. You know Klepper from two decades of comedy including as a contributor on The Daily Show, both with Jon Stewart and then with Trevor Noah. His field pieces had been viewed more than 100 million times —

KING: Wow. Wow. [LAUGHS]

DOKOUPIL: — and that’s what you get with interviews with vaccine skeptics and insurrectionists, they are like a big range of people and recently, Klepper spoke with supporters of former President Donald Trump who were outside the New York Courthouse where Donald Trump was arraigned. Take a look and a listen.

[DAILY SHOW CLIP]

DOKOUPIL: You could see the look on his face, as he realized, I don’t really have a reason.

KING: Yeah.

DUTHIERS: I just liked it.

DOKOUPIL: Other than a feeling.

KING: I no longer want to answer this question.

KLEPPER: Yeah, I mean we have a legal system in place, but Bill’s guts seem to get his — feeling.

DOKOUPIL: He’s got a feeling here or maybe somewhere else on the body is where that feeling is coming from.

Asked by Dokoupil whether he “learn[ed], if anything, about the opinions on the Trump arraignment” and King wondering whether there were any “crying people,” Klepper answered he “saw very few weeping people outside the Trump indictment” but did spot “a ton of media.”

He explained that, in going to Trump events, he doesn’t “go...looking to learn” as “rarely, there’s a lot of education being given out.”

Does Trump play fast and loose with the facts? Of course. But to argue every word and those of his supporters are bunk revealed how Klepper and CBS live in a silo.

Speaking of a silo, Klepper went onto explain he doesn’t see anyone beating Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination and predicted Trump supporters won’t hear a word about the Dominion lawsuit against Fox News because, unlike those on set at Comedy Central and CBS, MAGA types live in a bubble (click “expand”):

DOKOUPIL: So Santos has not announced that he is running for President, but other people have. They are going to challenge Donald Trump. How do you feel about the Republican field?

KLEPPER: I don’t see anybody who’s actually offering a different point of view outside of Donald Trump. DeSantis seems to run alongside him and I think when I talked to folks in the MAGA universe, there’s interest in DeSantis, but nobody’s letting go their big red hat yet, and I think until somebody grows enough of a backbone to say I’m not him, I’m me, he seems to be the choice.

KING: Well listen, Donald Trump’s core base is still extremely strong, despite the fact that he’s been indicted and other cases are waiting in the wings, and now we’re all looking at the Dominion case this week. Do you think that there’s anything that will come out of that case that could change their minds? How do you think they’re looking at that particular trial?

KLEPPER: I mean, frankly, I think where they’re going to go for their news, they’re not going to hear about this case.

KING: Mmmm.

KLEPPER: Fox isn’t going to talk about it, I don’t think Newsmax or OAN is going to make that center stage, and yet, they’ve sort of been conditioned to take any information that’s not pleasing to the worldview as something to dismiss it completely.

Complete hogwash.

The conversation moved to his field reports with co-host Vladimir Duthiers clamoring to see whether there’d be more during his week guest-hosting. Klepper boasted he “love[s] going out into the field, and I wanted to bring field elements into the show this week” with one from Tulsa, Oklahoma where he attended “the world’s largest gun show” to highlight “American gun culture.”

He added his guests would include Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), so it will all make for “important conversations.”

After King pushed hard for him to have the job, she asked what he’d do “to change it up” if given the job.

Check out Klepper’s comical answer about how he would ensure there’d be “new voices” and conversations with “real Americans”:

I’d totally change it up. I think late night is constantly evolving. I think you have to bring in new voices whether they’re sitting next to you or you’re talking to them, you also have to go out into the world. The benefit that I have as I talk to real Americans, I see those experiences and I think we cover news in real time. We’re the only late night show when the indictment happened that had somebody who was there that day.

You mean the guy who said last year that Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was turning Florida into Hungary, cheered the March for Our Lives, and said conservatives don’t believe in reality?

CBS’s latest corporate whoring and kissing up to someone who provides the left with their funhouse, hate-filled view of conservatives was made possible thanks to the endorsement of advertisers such as Flonase and Hyundai.
