Discussing his marriage to longtime girlfriend Siri Pinter while guest-hosting Wednesday’s Today, Carson Daly offered a rather surprising reason for finally getting married to Pinter after having been together for the past decade.
Speaking of how tying the knot over Christmas has already changed his life, he explained he feels that being married has affected him “in a more profound way” due to “the sacrament of marriage, you know, be a part of our lives.”
The surprise admission on the liberal media’s airwaves continued as Daly revealed that he and Pint “got married in our Catholic Church which was an important detail for us.”
At the start of the 9:00 a.m. hour, Daly was joined by co-hosts Natalie Morales and Dylan Dreyer to discuss the latest happenings in their lives when Morales exclaimed: “Can we say congratulations one more time because I know you haven't heard it enough on your marriage to Siri. We just love her around here. She's a member of our family too.”
When Dreyer added that she thought “[b]oth of you were glowing in the picture” and she’s been “lov[ing] every new picture” that Pinter posts on Instagram, Daly joked: “She was glowing and I was sweating, but yes, I appreciate that.”
On a more serious note, Morales wanted to know: “You guys have been together for a very long time, so has it changed? Do you feel I'm a married man now?”
Daly then expressed the importance and seriousness of marriage to him and how it was important for he and his newlywed to be married in the Catholic Church with their three children present:
It changes in a more profound way as of, you know, finally we got a charges you know, to have the sacrament of marriage, you know, be a part of our lives. You know, we got married in our Catholic Church which was an important detail for us. We’ve talked about this day for a long time, been together ten years and know that we've done this the new normal, three beautiful kids but to us as I've always said the goal is to just, you know, be a family and be together forever.
The former MTV host and current Voice host also pointed out that walking down the aisle was significant because the idea of marriage has eroded in the minds of many in today’s culture and thus “at a time when that doesn't seem to be happening as often as it used to” but “[w]e did things a little bit backwards, but it's working for us and we've been very blessed.”
Before moving on, Daly explained that he felt so grateful that his oldest son was at an age where he could both participate in the wedding and grasp the signficance of what he and his son’s mother were doing: “[B]y the way, the benefit of that was our kids, you know, Jackson, my six-year-old was the ring bearer and they really understood what was happening and it was great.”
